Call Me The Devil Chapter 56: Recap
In Chapter 56, we saw Hyeon-Shin asking about Joo Ina after regaining his memories. The other devils are stunned as they don’t believe he will recover so soon. Hyeon-Shin is mad at Yoo Bi Tan for not telling him about Ina being taken by Lucifer, Simon. But he replied that it was just cause they did not want Hyeon to get hurt, as if he had said anything about the incident to him, then Hyeon would have gone instead of Ina. They never betrayed him and genuinely believed it was the only way to protect him. This infuriated Hyeon, but he could understand where they were coming from. Nonetheless, he hits Yoo away and leaves the room, fuming.

Meanwhile, Lucifer reveals his intention behind wanting to take Ina to hell with him. He states that in the current fight for the throne, Caesar, the only Lucifer who has completed the coming-of-age ceremony, holds absolute power. And to level the playing field, he needs a Belpheghor. But, Belpheghor can only be born between a devil and a human. Even though it seemed like an offer, it wasn’t. He was indirectly threatening her by saying something along the lines of “Accept my offer, or Johan’s getting killed.”
Ina clenches her fists, determined not to let any harm befall Johan. Still, Lucifer just smiled and told her about Johan being an Asmodeus, a devil who feeds off Lust. Johan had put a mole on her neck, essentially marking her as his prey. Ina is shocked to find the truth. In this moment of insecurity, Simon approaches, alluring her by telling her that he will never put her in danger or lie about anything if she comes to hell with him. Ina asked that if she complied, he would let Johan go free to which he agreed.

Ina rushes up to Simon and hugs him. But we learn that all of this up until now had all been a part of Ina’s plan to make Simon lower his guard. Ina had heard from Hyeon that if she ever came across a Lucifer, she should try to make them drop their guard and use the opportunity to wipe their memory. She utilizes this strategy on the Lucifer before her, but it fails.
She could not believe her eyes. Her last method of self-defense had failed, being scared. She tried to back away, but Simon grabbed onto her more firmly and forcibly kissed her, putting a strange glowing purple color pill inside her mouth.
Simon was pretty surprised, as he never thought that she would be this capable already. But unfortunately for her, he wasn’t like the other run-of-the-mill Lucifers… he was someone special; after all, he had slayed hundreds and hundreds of Belphegors during the thousand-years war. He mutters about how he finds it hard to hold back since it’s his first time handling a human. Sensing Hyeon’s presence, he taunts him by asking if he wouldn’t agree that humans are so fragile that they feel like they could break any moment. The last panel shows an enraged Hyeon staring at Simon with bloodshot eyes.
