Blue Archive has received a major content update that brings a brand-new event centered around the legendary Tsuchinoko cryptid, alongside two playable students, returning fan-favorite characters, challenging boss raids, and limited-time reward campaigns. Released by NEXON on July 22, the “Kivotos’ Unsolved Mystery: In Search of Tsuchinoko, the Unknown Creature” update is now available on Android, iOS, and Steam.
The update expands the game’s growing roster with Konoka and Rena while introducing a story-driven adventure that blends mystery, supernatural encounters, and tactical battles. Alongside the new narrative, players can participate in recruitment banners, earn event-exclusive rewards, and tackle new endgame challenges through Final Restriction Release and Total Assault events.
Blue Archive continues to build on its mix of RPG strategy and anime storytelling, where players assume the role of Sensei, the advisor to the Federal Investigation Club SCHALE. Set in the academy city of Kivotos, the game combines military-inspired tactical combat with relationship-building mechanics, and this latest update offers another substantial chapter for both longtime players and newcomers.
Blue Archive’s Tsuchinoko event introduces Konoka, Rena, and a supernatural mystery
The centerpiece of the update is the new limited-time event story, “Kivotos’ Unsolved Mystery: In Search of Tsuchinoko, the Unknown Creature.” The adventure follows Konoka as she sets out to locate the legendary cryptid Tsuchinoko in hopes of avoiding an ominous fate.
Joined by Sensei, Rena, and their eccentric online companion Tsubasa, the group travels to a secluded mountain lodge. Their investigation quickly escalates beyond simple rumors as they encounter false leads, attacks from delinquents, and unsettling supernatural events while uncovering the truth behind the mysterious creature.
Completing the event’s story chapters, quests, and challenge stages rewards players with valuable resources, including Pyroxene, Credit Points, and additional event rewards, making it one of the update’s biggest attractions.
The update also introduces two new recruitable students through a limited-time Pick-up Recruitment banner.
Konoka (★3) joins as a Mystic-type Tank designed for frontline combat. Her EX Skill delivers heavy damage to enemies in a fan-shaped area while restoring part of her HP during activation, allowing her to stay in battle longer and absorb incoming attacks.
Meanwhile, Rena (★3) debuts as an Explosive-type Supporter from the Wild Hunt Academy of Arts. Her EX Skill removes one harmful debuff from an ally while increasing their Defense. She also significantly boosts the Attack Power and Critical Damage of Special students, making her a valuable support option for backline-focused team compositions.
In addition to the new characters, NEXON has brought back several previously available students through returning recruitment opportunities. Players can once again obtain Hare (Camp), Kotama (Camp), Maki (Camp), and Misaki, giving collectors another chance to strengthen their rosters.
Boss raids and double reward campaigns headline the latest Blue Archive activities
Beyond the new story, the update introduces several limited-time gameplay events designed for high-level players.
The Final Restriction Release: Tiphareth (Elastic Armor) event runs from July 21 through August 17 (PST). Players who defeat the boss can claim rewards for every cleared stage up to their highest completed level, providing additional incentives for progression.
Another challenge arrives with Total Assault: Goz (Field Warfare), scheduled from July 27 through August 3 (PST). Players who defeat Goz can earn Clear Rewards, Total Points Rewards, and Rank Rewards based on their overall performance.
To help players prepare for these battles, NEXON is also running multiple Double Rewards Campaigns. The Bounty Double Rewards Campaign is available from July 20 to July 27 (PST), while the Mission (Normal) Double Rewards Campaign runs from July 27 to August 3 (PST). These events allow players to gather upgrade materials and progression resources at an accelerated rate.
Originally launched globally in 2021 on mobile devices, Blue Archive recently expanded to Steam, allowing even more players to experience its tactical RPG gameplay and character-driven storytelling. With a new cryptid-themed adventure, additional recruitable students, challenging raids, and generous reward campaigns, this update delivers one of the game’s most content-rich events of the year.
