Why Fans Showed Up Before the Official Premiere
What made the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War — The Calamity screening special was the exclusive content included with the theatrical event. Fans were able to watch the first three episodes in both Japanese with subtitles and English dub, along with a behind-the-scenes discussion featuring series creator Tite Kubo, chief series director Tomohisa Taguchi, and series director Hikaru Murata. This additional footage was created specifically for the event and will not be included in the regular TV broadcast or streaming release.
Ahead of the screenings, Fathom Entertainment CEO Ray Nutt explained that the event was part of the company’s focus on bringing popular franchise content to theaters for dedicated fan communities. The special screening gave Bleach fans a chance to experience new episodes alongside exclusive behind-the-scenes material before the official release.
Fans who purchased tickets through Fandango also received a collectible bonus while supplies lasted. The offer included a mystery production artwork sheet featuring exclusive designs of Yoruichi Shihōin, Kisuke Urahara, and Ichigo Kurosaki, giving fans an additional reason to attend the limited theatrical event.
