The upcoming Sgt. Frog stage musical has taken another step toward its September Tokyo premiere with the release of a brand new key visual. Producers revealed the latest artwork for Pekopon Invasion Musical Sgt. Frog, giving fans their best look yet at the live-action adaptation of Mine Yoshizaki’s long-running sci-fi comedy.

The newly released visual expands on the teaser artwork revealed earlier this year, showcasing how the iconic Keroro Platoon and their fellow alien invaders will be brought to life on stage. The update offers audiences a clearer preview of the production’s costumes, cast, and theatrical style as preparations continue for the musical’s Tokyo debut.

Sgt. Frog Expands Beyond Anime With Its First Stage Musical

The Sgt. Frog franchise has remained one of Kadokawa’s most popular comedy series for more than 20 years. Mine Yoshizaki’s manga began serialization in Monthly Shonen Ace in 1999 before receiving a successful anime adaptation from Sunrise. The television series aired from 2004 to 2011, producing 358 episodes and five animated films.

Now, the franchise is entering a new chapter with its first live stage musical. Pekopon Invasion Musical Sgt. Frog marks the first time Keroro and the rest of the Keroro Platoon will appear in a full theatrical production, bringing the long-running sci-fi comedy to the stage for fans in Japan.

The musical also arrives during a major year for the franchise. Alongside the stage production, Sgt. Frog is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a new theatrical film and an all-new television anime scheduled for later in 2026, making this one of the series’ biggest years since its debut.

Experienced Staff and Cast Bring the Keroro Platoon to Life

The stage musical is directed and written by Keita Kawajiri, a well-known creator in Japan’s 2.5D theater scene. He has previously worked on stage adaptations of popular anime and manga series, including Mob Psycho 100 and Cells at Work!, making him an experienced choice for the production.

Music for the show is composed by Yu of the group Vague. His previous theater credits include MANKAI STAGE A3! and The Prince of Tennis Musical, giving the production a creative team with extensive experience adapting popular Japanese entertainment for the stage.

The main cast features Shogo Tamura as Keroro, Shion Otomo as Tamama, Ryono Kusachi as Giroro, Haruki Kiyama as Kururu, and Shin Tamura as Dororo. The newly released key visual offers the clearest look yet at the actors in costume, highlighting how the colorful alien squad has been recreated for live audiences.

Tokyo Performances Begin This September

Pekopon Invasion Musical Sgt. Frog will run from September 18 to September 27, 2026, at Japan Youth Hall in Tokyo. The limited engagement allows fans to experience the franchise in a completely new format as the production makes its stage debut.

At this time, only the Tokyo performances have been announced. While there has been no official confirmation of additional shows, many successful anime stage productions have expanded to other cities after their initial run, leaving the possibility open for future performances if audience demand is strong.

With a new key visual, an experienced production team, and a well-known cast, excitement continues to build ahead of the September opening. More information about ticket sales and additional promotional events is expected to be announced as the premiere date gets closer.
