Blaze and his driver AJ were seen initially in the pilot Blaze of Glory. When the two were utilizing Blazing Speed to practice their feats, they unintentionally raced into some falling rocks and were thrown off course.
He encounters Gabby, the mechanic, the other Monster Machines Stripes, Starla, Darington, Zeg, the dishonest Crusher, and his silly sidekick Pickle as he discovers Axle City and the Monster Dome. After trapping the Monster Machines in Trouble Bubbles that take them away from the Monster Machine World Championship, Crusher attempts to stop him but accidentally gets caught in a bubble and is transported to a desert. After overcoming Crusher’s tricks and returning to the Monster Dome, Blaze went on to save and become friends individually with each Monster Machine.

On Christmas Eve, Blaze, AJ, Crusher, Pickle, and the rest of their pals assist Santa in getting his sleigh ready for the big day. But when Crusher learns he won’t receive a gift this year, Blaze and AJ promise to help him carry out enough pleasant deeds to earn three stars and a blessing. There is only one monstrous machine strong enough to assist Flippy, a dolphin, in returning to his family in the ocean: Big Rig Blaze!
