BLACKPINK’s Jennie continues her successful partnership with Gentle Monster as the Jentle Salon collection, her third collaboration with the eyewear brand, flies off the shelves despite plagiarism rumours.
Upon its official release on May 1st, items from the Jentle Salon collection quickly sold out both in Gentle Monster stores and online platforms across major cities like Seoul, Tokyo, Bangkok, and Shanghai. Within just over an hour, numerous glasses and charms were snapped up, leading to a double sell-out by the day’s end.
Despite the overwhelming demand, controversy surfaced when comparisons emerged between Jennie’s collection and YVMIN’s Paradise jewellery line from 2020 to 2022, highlighting striking similarities in design and colour schemes.
Notably, the Jentle Salon collection comes with a higher price range compared to Jennie’s previous collaborations, ranging from $295 to $380 for glasses and $20 to $70 for charms. Despite this, Gentle Monster swiftly assured customers of restocking by adding a “To be Restocked” note under the sold-out products.
Jennie’s previous collaborations with Gentle Monster, including Jentle Home in 2020 and Jentle Garden in 2022, have consistently made headlines for their rapid sell-outs and overwhelming popularity. The Jentle Garden collection, in particular, was so sought-after that some stores implemented purchase limits to manage the high demand.
Despite the controversy surrounding plagiarism rumours, Jennie’s star power continues to drive success and anticipation for future collaborations with Gentle Monster, solidifying her influence on fashion and eyewear.
