The county of Somerset in South West England was the major location where the filming was done. The camp was majorly set in Bridgewater Town.
The filming and production crew made King’s Square and Castle Street look like London from the 1960s to lens several crucial scenes of the movie. Sedgemoor District Council’s building was also used frequently to film some of the scenes of the mystery scenes.
Some extra portions of Black Cake were also filmed in London, the capital of England and the UK. Many of the external scenes of the mystery show were filmed on the location.
The audience will get glimpses of many famous landmarks such as the London Eye, Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and many more in the background of the show.
Other Filming Locations in England
To complete the filming, the crew and the cast went to other locations in England. They went to the county of Bristol to film. The city center looks like London. The crew also converted the Frog Lane into London Street for shooting the first season.
Other than this the production crew also sets a camp in Great Point Seren Studious situated on Wentloog Avenue, Cardiff’s St. Mellons. Residence to different sound stages, the studio complex also has workshops, a parking lot, production offices, and other offices, all of which aid and make it a preferred filming site for different kinds of film crews.
The botanic gardens for Roath Parks are also converted to filming sets.
Los Angeles, California
The filming camp of the show also shot a few scenes in the entertainment capital of the world, Los Angeles. The city has ties with the Hollywood industry, which makes the filming suitable for the show.
Additionally, the location of Southern California was also seen in a few of the episodes.
Other than these locations, the filming crew also flew to various locations across the globe, including Scotland, Wales, and Rome in Italy. A few major sequences were filmed on the Island country of Jamaica.
In an interview with Screenwriter, Natalie Leite, the director was asked to share her views, to which she answered the shooting was very challenging. The budget allowed them to get a tank, but they were in Jamaica in waters, and some of the cast members had limited experience of working or filming in waters.
She added that her comfort was not good but had a good amount of support. She was surrounded by safe people, had an underwater camera, and a lot of people were there on jet skis to help out.
She felt supportive, and she also prioritized safety first but still, after all the support the filming was challenging because the water was constantly doing its thing. There were waves and everyone was bouncing with those water movements.
The cast includes Stephanie Jacob as Sister Janette, Rupert Evans as James Everett, Chipo Chung as Eleanor Bennett, Ashley Thomas as Byron, Mia Isaac as Covey, Cara Horgan as Mildred, Tom McKay as Bossman, Anna Mawn as Beatrice Rossimoore, Simon Wan as Lin, Faith Alabi as Pearl Thomas.
