Set in Nome, Alaska, this reality show, Bering Sea Gold, has enthusiasts and experts diving into the frozen waters looking for gold and other valuable items that the sea bed could be hiding. This show comes from the same people who created the idea of another reality series, Deadliest Catch.
Battling conflicts like poor underwater visibility, inconsistent fuel delivery, mining location rights, and diver safety to name a few, the divers still get the job done, achieving gold mining in the summertime, a shallow water ocean environment.
The gold miners led by their determined captains often enter shallow sea or ocean waters in a desperate attempt to find gold, considering this is their livelihood and is dependent heavily on mining frozen gold.
It is interesting to watch the divers mine gold in frozen temperatures and it gives viewers a glimpse into the tough lives that these miners live and how the mining activity has evolved in Alaska. The task is not easy, and we have spotted these miners go through rough times quite a lot.
With some miners not being able to handle the pressure of the job and others facing the wrath of natural calamities like storms that flip over the entire community, the show keeps things real with its audience. We are presently in the middle of the seventeenth season of the show and here is all you need to know about it.
The Plot
We know that the show focuses on more than one mining team, the new season has brought us back to Shawn, Kris Kelly, Chris McCully, and Vernon, and their mining struggles. The first episode of the season opened with miners trying to keep up with the industrial revolution that had finally knocked on Nome’s doorstep.
But we soon realized that keeping with the game and not giving in to the revolution would not be easy. With faults in equipment and never seen before dredging methods, the start for this season was rocky in the least. Over the episodes, we saw the miners go through so much and the upcoming episode is not going to be easy either.
In the last episode, we witnessed the divers deal with the aftermath of a violent storm which left Shawn to pick up the pieces and move on to find a new mining spot. Chris suffered too, with low visibility underwater. Emily’s miners managed to get their act going along with Reaper Nation, trying to get through this harsh season.
With the finale creeping up on us, we will witness the teams trying their best to make the most of the season. Vernon would go back to the deep waters in search of gold, Shawn would be after a new hot spot for mining, and finally, Kris, just like the rest of them, would be focused on getting the mining done.
