Bear McCreary Reveals New God of War: Laufey Concept Art and Main Theme at Vancouver Concert

New details about God of War: Laufey have emerged from composer Bear McCreary’s concert in Vancouver, where attendees were shown new concept art from Sony Interactive Entertainment and Santa Monica Studio’s upcoming game. The presentation also featured the game’s main theme performed live by the orchestra, giving fans an early taste of its musical direction.

Footage shared by YouTube creator Dark Trencher reportedly captures more than four minutes of the concert presentation, including the previously unseen artwork and McCreary’s performance. The material provides another glimpse at the project ahead of its confirmed February 16, 2027, release on PlayStation 5.

God of War: Laufey shifts the spotlight from Kratos to his late wife, Laufey, also known as Faye. The character is a Jotun warrior from Jotunheim and the mother of Atreus, with the new game exploring her story beyond the events previously established in the God of War series.

The game follows Faye after her death as she arrives in All-Time, a mysterious realm described as the origin of all magic. Her journey begins when she discovers that her plans to protect her family are threatened, sending her through an afterlife populated by gods and creatures inspired by multiple mythologies.

Sony previously confirmed the February 2027 release, while Cory Barlog revealed that a subsequent Kratos-focused game will continue the events of Laufey and connect directly to Faye’s story.
