Bastian is the story of a girl who was born to an Imperial Princess and the Duke of Fallen Family. Helene, the Imperial princess, chooses love over status and wealth by eloping with Duke Dyssen. This resulted in her being disowned by the Imperial Family. Their daughter, our Protagonist Odette Dyssen grew up in poverty. However, her mother was insistent on teaching her proper etiquette.
She hoped to one day return to the Imperial Family and did not want her daughter to fall behind. However, before she could realize this dream, she succumbed to a mysterious illness and passed away. Her father, Duke Dyssen, became a gambling addict and became quite prolific. The story begins when Dyssen bets on her daughter after losing all his money playing cards.
Ultimately, he lost that bet too. That was how Captain Bastian Klauvitz met Odette Dyssen. She conducted herself with grace and was able to get out of the situation her father got them into. Little did she know, his demeanor struck a cord in the Cold Navy Captain’s heart. As fate would have it, they were destined to meet again. It is revealed that the imperial princess is in love with Bastian.
Since Bastian is not of Noble descent, the union cannot be endorsed by the Imperial Family. They came up with a solution which was to have Bastian marry Odette so that Isabel, The Imperial Princess, would have no choice but to change her mind. Bastian and Odette meet and come up with a plan—a plan to fool the Imperial Family just long enough to get Isabel out of the equation.
Those who are familiar with this trope can predict exactly what is going to happen. They will wed each other and act like a couple. Slowly but surely, the act will become a reality. We have begun seeing the changes already. Odette was able to bring out a side of Bastian everyone thought did not exist. Even though it’s just an act, Odette seems to enjoy spending time with Bastian.
Bastian Chapter 19 Recap
The official Polo Match between the Military and the Navy has come to an end. We do not yet know which Faction is the victor. What we do know is the Bastian displayed amazing skill in playing Polo. Before that, Odette overheard the conversation between Bastian and Countess Sandrin Lavier, the woman whom he planned to marry originally.
Odette is disturbed by her soon-to-be husband having relations with other women, but since it’s just all an act, she bites her tongue. What we didn’t expect was Bastian denying Sandrin’s advances. If only Odette had not walked away before that happened. A jealous Sandrin stole the Ribbon Bastian and took off Odette’s head as a lucky charm into a puddle of dirt.
Believing it was Bastian who did it, Odette made an excuse and opted not to attend the Banquet later. Bastain soon found out what happened to the Ribbon. He retrieved it, but we don’t know what he plans to do with it. Since Odette does not own any presentable clothes of her own, she has been borrowing from her chaperone. Realizing this, Bastain invites her to a clothing store.
After realizing his intentions, Odette made it clear that she would not be taking any handouts from him. Can’t say Bastain was surprised by her reaction. He surely saw it coming, and he had a plan to get her to accept the dresses he picked out. We saw him looking at books about ladies’ appeal. Maybe he had some clothes custom-made and wanted Odette to try them on.
Bastian Spoilers – What To Expect From Chapter 19?
In Bastain Chapter 19, we will get to see Odette’s first time in a luxury clothing store. The store is called Sabine, and it’s the same one Countess Sandrin mentioned during the Polo Game. Odette realizes that the store is way ahead of her budget, and she won’t even be able to afford even a handkerchief from this store. Let’s see what sort of scheme Bastain cooked up this time.
