The sci-fi film Awareness is quite unique, where a father-son duo is using their power for not-so-great work. Ian is the son, and his father’s name is Vicente. So, basically, Ian has the power to create illusions and use them in any way that pleases him.
However, his father enjoys that power much more than he does. With the help of those illusions, they commit completely baseless and petty crimes. However, one cannot do anything for long without a cost. There’s a price for each action of take, and that’s what happened with them!
It was now going over the board. There was a killer called the Perceiver who was behind Ian to hunt him down. He even had Ian once. However, to his rescue came Adriana and the Agency.
The point is both of these parties wanted Ian, his powers, and the benefit they could gain using them. So, let us proceed to see how the Awareness movie ended.
Awareness Movie Ending
During this time, Ian formed a good bond with Esther, who helped him escape from the killer, and both of them began the journey to find out more about Ian and his abilities. However, while Ian was captive, he learned that he could dig into people’s minds as well.
So, he decided to know more about his mother, and his first attack was to delve into Vicente’s mind. Then, he came to know that he wasn’t his father but the one who rescued him during the research that was happening to him.
Other Perceiver & Kominski
After some time, Esther suggests Ian to flee from the place together, and he is helped by a scientist, another perceiver who also has been following Ian. Esther then tells him about a scientist named Kominski who might have answers regarding his powers.
Then, after a few more incidents, Ian and Esther reach the lab where the former was born. He came to know his mother’s name via the files and also that he’s Kominski’s grandson. The perceiver comes to the lab following him and says that during the Cold War, the government made perceivers to help spy on the enemies.
The Mule
When the war ended, it was ordered to kill all the perceivers. However, one of them, named The Mule, couldn’t be killed. He could control the physical actions of the enemies, and he, along with others, remained hidden. Then, the company sent forces to catch them.
Ian and Esther safely reached a house in Madrid, which was The Mule’s. However, The Mule is held captive, where he reveals his name to everyone and flees. He too, reaches the house, and Ian finds his mother there in an inactive state.
The Mule tells him that Ian’s mother ruined the Kominski formula and placed it in his mind. Then, the agency intended to open her brain, which left her in this condition. Adriana and the agency reached the home where they couldn’t stand in front of Ian’s third power.
Ian Behind The Mule
Vicente asks Ian to make a move that shouldn’t kill Adriana, but The Mule uses his power and makes Vicente commit suicide. Ian digs into Vicente’s mind, where he comes to know that her mother asked him to rescue Ian and have a future with him.
Then, The Mule kidnaps Esther, and Ian follows him, seeing a gun put onto Ester’s head among the crowd. Ian compels everyone to sleep, but Mule again awakens all of them and forces them to fight against Ian. One of them choked Ian, but Adriana rescues him.
Ester, An Illusion
The Mule threatens to kill Esther and asks for the formula. It was then revealed by Adriana that Esther is an illusion created by Mule himself. Ian shot Esther’s belly, which surpassed her illusioned body, and the bullet killed The Mule. They leave to see a grave for Vicente.
Ian opens a book named “La Grandeza del Oceano” given by Vicente, and notices Andriana talking to someone. He activates his power, and the film ends.
