Netflix has announced an open casting call for the role of Toph, who is set to debut in Season 2. Described as a mid-to-late teen, blind, female, and Asian, the casting call encourages blind or low-vision actors to apply, staying true to Toph’s character traits from the original series.
Toph is portrayed as sassy, confident, and unfiltered, with her formidable earthbending skills now unleashed as she becomes the Avatar’s earthbending master. Dance and martial arts experience is noted as a plus for applicants.
Filming for Season 2 is expected to begin in Fall 2024. While a release date for the new episodes hasn’t been announced yet, the timeline suggests it won’t be as long a wait as it was for the first season.
