Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has delivered Ubisoft its strongest Steam launch in the history of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Just days after release, the remastered pirate adventure has reportedly generated $35 million in Steam revenue and sold more than 700,000 copies on Valve’s platform, reinforcing its status as one of Ubisoft’s biggest PC launches to date.

According to market research firm Alinea Analytics, the game had sold approximately 701,000 copies on Steam by July 13, generating around $35 million in revenue, with an additional $1 million coming from downloadable content.

Steam performance surpasses Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Alinea Analytics says Black Flag Resynced recorded the biggest Steam launch in the franchise’s history.

The report notes that the game earned $22.4 million on its first day, significantly ahead of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which generated $9.5 million during its own Steam launch. Four days after release, Black Flag Resynced had expanded that lead, reaching $35.1 million, compared to Shadows’ $22.2 million over the same period.

The strong performance also places the remaster ahead of previous entries such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Assassin’s Creed Mirage in Steam revenue.

It’s worth noting that recent Assassin’s Creed games have benefited from Ubisoft’s decision to launch simultaneously on Steam, following years of prioritizing Ubisoft Connect for PC releases.

Players embrace the game but skip most cosmetic DLC

While the base game has sold exceptionally well, Alinea Analytics found that players have been less interested in cosmetic microtransactions.

The report estimates that only around 2% of players purchased cosmetic DLC packs. However, approximately 6% bought the $5 treasure map pack, which reveals collectible locations throughout the game world.

Cosmetic DLC previously drew criticism from some players, contributing to review-bombing shortly after launch. Despite that controversy, the remaster has already surpassed 2 million copies sold worldwide on launch day, making it one of Ubisoft’s biggest commercial successes in recent years.

With strong sales momentum continuing and Edward Kenway’s adventure finding a new audience on modern hardware, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has firmly established itself as Ubisoft’s most successful Assassin’s Creed launch on Steam to date.
