A famous horror film is getting a prequel over 50 years after its original release. The journey for Apartment 7A has been long, with the producers of Rosemary’s Baby protecting the classic and its legacy. Under the direction of Natalie Erika James, the project finally made it to the screen.
Instead of remaking the 1968 movie, James decided to focus on filling the gaps left behind in the original story. Apartment 7A centers on Terry (played by Julia Garner), an ambitious dancer who suffers a career-ending injury, preventing her from living her dream.
Rescued by the Castevets (previously played by Ruth Gordon and Sidney Blackmer, now portrayed by Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally), Terry believes they can help her get back on track. However, the elderly couple soon reveals a sinister plan for her future.
With the prequel’s release on the horizon, here’s when and where you can watch this chilling new film.

Watch the Trailer for ‘Apartment 7A’
The official trailer, released last month, opens with Terry (Garner) explaining why she moved to New York.
Her dream was to perform on stage and see her name in lights, but an injury ended that dream. Feeling hopeless, Terry meets an elderly couple who welcomes her into their luxurious home.
Although she tries to recover, her ankle is still not fully healed. As she stays with them, Terry begins to notice strange behavior.
“There’s something wrong with these people,” she says in the trailer, after starting to suspect that something terrible happened to the previous tenant.
As she investigates the woman who lived in the apartment before her, Terry begins hallucinating, believing she might be pregnant.
She feels something sinister is happening to her. By the end of the trailer, the story turns dark with satanic rituals, gruesome scenes, and Terry screaming after witnessing blood pouring from a hidden place.
What Is ‘Apartment 7A’ About?
Paramount+ provides the official description of Apartment 7A:
Terry Gionoffrio (Julia Garner) is a young, ambitious dancer hoping to make it big in New York City. After a terrible injury, she is welcomed into the home of an older, wealthy couple (Dianne Wiest and Kevin McNally) in their luxurious apartment building, the Bramford.
When a Broadway producer (Jim Sturgess) offers her another chance at fame, it seems her dreams are finally coming true. However, after a night she cannot fully remember, strange things start happening.
Terry begins questioning the sacrifices she’s willing to make for her career as she realizes something evil is lurking not only in Apartment 7A but in the entire building.
Apartment 7A also ties back to the events that took place before the iconic Rosemary’s Baby (1968).
Fans of the original know that the main character, played by Mia Farrow, and her husband face terrifying events when they move to New York and live next to the same sinister couple, the Castevets.
If you need a refresher on the 1968 classic, Rosemary’s Baby is also available to stream on Paramount+.
