The Allure of The Night Light novel entices the readers with a fresh new concept of the Fantasy/Romance genre. We’ve had several foci on main leads that can shapeshift to werewolves, demons, vampires, and other greater beings… But the main lead taking a form of a mermaid is unheard of.
ash_knight17 is a writer with talent in creative storytelling and detailed world-building, elevating the story more than what you might perceive of it. The Allure of The Night is a story of a young mermaid (Genevieve Barlow or Eve for short) and a boy of nobility status (Vincent Moriarty).
Eve and Vincent happen to have a fateful encounter during the winter, and this leads to a connection that leads them to cross paths several more times, from strangers to a couple. Embark on a journey with Eve to find out about her mother’s death and have closure so she can live at ease.
A lot has conspired in the recent chapters, 520 chapters of the story. Like all good things, even this must come to an end. The author stated in the most recent chapters that Allure of The Night is nearing its end.

Chapter 519 starts off with Vincent Moriarty with his silver gun & his trusty hands in a confrontation with a pack of rogue werewolves. The fight was in favor of Vincent, yet it was unreasonably gruesome. Vincent’s men were fighting off the rogues, too, though they felt all the werewolves around the region were concentrating on their location. Aside from Vincent, his men were barely keeping up with the bombardment of werewolves.
So much so that even the werewolves began to mock with tactful lines and snickering But, this didn’t stop Vincent from ripping and tearing the werewolves in the most painful way possible. Shortly after, Vincent notices the sky isn’t blue anymore. He was looking around for Eve, so they could retreat, as the golden moon was ready to ascend any time now.
(Vincent is the pureblooded vampire) So when the men were retreating as Vincent ordered, he himself had different plans. He stood still in the sight of ravaging werewolves as if they didn’t exist. He closed his eyes & put up a stance closely resembling Isaac Netero from Hunter x Hunter when he prayed using a single hand during his fight against Meruem. Vincent didn’t hinge even when the werewolves took notice of a sitting duck and started charging toward him.
But once Vincent had opened his eyes, they were bloodshot red, giving off a sense of danger, but the werewolves weren’t smart enough to foresee the upcoming danger. Vincent Moriarty let off a radial attack that passed through the rogue vampires and werewolves, making them kneel to the ground. The attack was so potent even his own comrades were affected by it, leaving them strong-willed standing. As a reference, this ability is very similar to the King’s/Conqueror’s Haki from One Piece.
We were then taken to Eve’s situation near the cave, as Erasmus was amusedly looking at her, sneering and everything while she was constrained from moving due to the spikes all around her, but as a silver lining that the spikes were the only thing distancing Erasmus from herself. Erasmus had accepted the challenge as if he knew exactly what to do.
Erasmus simply used the tree beside him as a weapon to take the spikes down, leading to a careless walk through the debris that still hadn’t settled down. Eve found this as an opportunity to ambush him. Eva used all her might to trip Erasmus and was ready to stab his putrid heart, only to stop immediately as she heard a familiar voice and saw a familiar face.
“EVE!” “My daughter, are you trying to kill me?” says Erasmus after he shapeshifted into Eva’s mother. Eva’s hesitation led to disaster. The chapter finally ends with Eva on the ground and Erasmus at the top.
In chapter 520 (Fog in the Forest), Eve knew all too well it could never be her mother since it was Eve who buried her mother after she passed. Yet the moment of hesitation was looking at a creature that looked exactly like her mother, eyes full of life. And she just couldn’t take its life away with that picture in her head.
Erasmus was surprised at the effectiveness of his schemes, so he relentlessly continued. This was too hurtful for Eve to confront, so she tried her best to escape but to no avail. Erasmus’ scheme was still in motion but was put to an abrupt stop to it by a familiar face.
“I didn’t know you liked to cross-dress, Erasmus,” Vincent said, emitting badassery as his silver gun rested on his side. While Erasmus and Vincent were striking up quite a funny conversation, Eva felt reassured to see Vincent here. Even the evil Erasmus had lost his evil smirk upon being greeted by his brother, Vincent.
Erasmus’ mood was ruined, “Watch me kill her with my bare hands.” Erasmus growled. Vincent had put on a serious act as his wings appeared from his back. He started to shapeshift into a creature resembling the first vampire that walked on these lands. Erasmus ignored Vincent altogether and instead focused on dealing with Eva. Erasmus paid the price for such an act.
Vincent used the ability of command, freezing Erasmus in his tracks, which gave enough time for the pureblooded vampire the time to swoop and deal a fatal blow to the gut, having Erasmus fly and hit two trees one after another. After which, Erasmus and Vincent had a heart-to-heart conversation as brothers, leading to their final faceoff.
While the two men were fighting tooth and nail, Eve looked up at the sky as the golden moon set in, causing the sky to shine a spread of gold. Finally, to end the fight, Vincent and Eve collaboratively used their wits to overpower Erasmus, leaving Erasmus gasping for air.
Shortly after, the forest was filled with a dense layer of fog, obstructing everyone’s view, which surprised Erasmus and Vincent alike. This allowed Eve to make a run for it and put as much distance as possible between Erasmus and herself.
The chapter then finally ends with Vincent hearing an eerie melody from a distance, not realizing the shadowy figure standing in front of him isn’t Eve.
Allure of The Night: Potential Spoilers
With the story nearing its climax, we could expect leads on what Eve is trying to achieve. Could the lady singing the melody at the end of Chapter 520 be someone we know? And with Erasmus out of Vincent’s sight, what could he be up to?
Tune in to find out!
