Shigekuni Yamamoto-Genryusai has topped the list as the strongest Bleach captain. He is the OG of the game and the most formidable warrior even in his old age. He was the leader and Captain of the First Division in the Gotei 13 and the Captain Commander. Yamamoto worked with Chojiro Sasakibe as his lieutenant. However, he was sent to Hell and gained the epithet of “Founder of the Gotei.” Yamamoto is an older man with a bald head and a long beard. His appearance suits him as the strongest Captain.
As the Captain-Commander, Yamamoto has earned huge respect in society, and most of the Shinigami respect him. Sajin Komamura considers Yamamoto a benefactor since Yamamoto saved his life. This OG is strict; he follows all the laws and Soul Society and expects others to do the same.
Shunsui Kyoraku
Shunsui Kyoraku is the Captain of Gotei 13, and Nanao Ise and Genshiro Okikiba are his lieutenants. He was the Captain of the 8th Division before he became the Captain of the Divisions. He loves to dress like a samurai and is the strongest swordsman. Shunsui is the son of the high-ranking noble Kyoraku family. He possesses many abilities and powers, and he has a unique Zanpakuto. Shunsui sometimes loves to put on an eye patch.
Kenpachi Zaraki
Kenpachi Zaraki was raised in a lawless region and had to fight for survival. This made him stronger as the Captain. His strength made him get recruited into the Soul Society. Zaraki battled with the former Captain of the 11th Division and defeated him to become its leader. He has a powerful Zambakuto that increases his cutting abilities. He became the eleventh Kenpachi to hold the position, and Yachiru Kusajishi became his first lieutenant; then, lieutenant Ikkaku Madarame took over as the current lieutenant.
Retsu Unohana
She was the Captain of the 4th Division, and Retsu became the greatest healer of the Soul Society, holding the title of Kenpachi. She is the legendary Shinigami who has hated living for over a millennium. Retsu has a single scar on her entire persona. Retsu’s Zanpakuto, Minazuki, is good for healing, and in its Shinkai form, it turns into a weird creature. Retsu Unohana was known as Yachiru Unohana and was one of the oldest experienced captains. She gained the epithet of “Death Sword” after being cast into Hell.
Byakuya Kuchiki

Kuchiki Clan is the noble clan in Soul Society, and Byakuya’s lieutenant is Renji Abarai.
Jushiro Ukitake
Joshiro Ukitake was in the 13th Division, and Rukai Kuchika replaced him. However, Ukitake died during the final war as the strongest Captain. He had great battle strategies that made him win many fights during his prime time. Ukitake’s Zanpakuto absorbs the energy emitted at him. Jushiro Ukitake’s lieutenant was Kaien Shiba, and Rukia Kuchiki took over after Shiba. For most of his life, he hosted the Right Arm of the Soul King, Mimihagi, in his body. But after his death, he gained the epithet of “Kamikake” Divine Possession.
Shinji Hirako
Shinji is the current Captain of the 5th Division, and Momo Hinamori is his current lieutenant. He also worked as a recruiter and the leader of the Visored. Shinji has been the Captain for over a hundred years before his exile and later gets reinstated to his old post after the battle against Sosuke Aizen. Shinji falls from the sky, floating upside down above Ichigo Kurosaki while talking to Orihime Inoue and Yasutora Sado. That happened after Shinji dispatched a Hollow. His Hollow mask has a time limit of five minutes at a time.
Mayuri Kurotsuchi
Mayuri Kurotsuchi became the Captain of the 12th Division and second president of the Shinigami Research Institute. Nemu Kurotsuchi was his previous lieutenant and the artificial “daughter.” But Akon is his current lieutenant. Mayuri also worked as the third seat of the 12th Division under Kisuke Urahara. His face looks like a skeleton and has black and white paint. Mayuri has appeared in various arcs and showed how powerful he is.
Gin Ichimaru
Gin Ichimaru appeared in both manga and anime as the Captain of the 3rd Division in the Gotei 13. But he ends up betraying the Soul Society and gets stripped of his position. Gin later becomes a commander in Sosuke Aizen’s Arrancar army. However, his betrayal was to get close to Aizen since he wanted to kill Aizen. Izuru Kira was his lieutenant.
Gin was seen first with Kenpachi Zaraki, and they teased Byakuya Kuchiki about his sister Rukia Kuchiki since she was sentenced to death. They believed that Byakuya was depressed since the family of nobles could stand to have a criminal as their part of the family.
Toshiro Hitsugaya
Toshiro Hitsugaya is the strict Captain of the 10th Division who can’t tolerate nonsense. He looks like a child but is one of the strongest captains. Love Aikawa was initially known as Love and was the 7th Division captain. Jinemon Kotsubaki was his lieutenant. Kisuke Urahara
Urahara Kisuke was the Captain of the 12th Division and the founder and 1st President of the SRDI. Hiyori Sakuragi wasa Kisuke’s lieutenant. Kisuke leaves with humans, and he owns convenience stores selling Shinigami items. He works with Jinta Hanakari, Tessai Tsukabishi, and Ururu Tsumugiya as his employees.
Sajin Komamura
Sajin was the Captain of the 7th Division, and Tetsuzaemon Iba was his lieutenant. He is a wolf captain, and his life is a mystery. Sajin left his family due to anger, and his childhood is not much known, and other members of Soul Society know less about his whereabouts. He is a kind guy, but when he is disturbed, he shows his angry or rage side.
