Sadly, All Americans Season 5 Episode 16 will be released after a short break. But that extra waiting for the episode will be worth the wait because Coach Kennny, Spencer, and Jordan will be shaking up the team lineup. As a result of this, some people will be removed and new players will join the team.
In All Americans Season 5 Episode 15, Spencer spirals into his grief, and with time doctor Spears gets him to identify what it is that he’s truly feeling. JJ comes prepared and ready for spring football. However, nobody realizes that he is struggling with a possible addiction. He has been given one more chance by coach Montez, but will he blow it and end up off the team?
Jordan learns more about his leadership style and realizes that the team needs to bond. Patience meets with Miko, who still greatly impacts her views and popularity to thank her and set boundaries. But Miko installed spyware on her phone. Once Olivia learns more about how Spencer has been hiding his grief and pushing everyone away, she decides that Spencer needs everyone who loves him and gathers them all together.
All American Season 5 Episode 15 Recap & Review
Before diving into All American Season 5 Episode 16, let’s quickly recap and review the previous episode. I feel like Grace is one of the best TV moms of recent times, honestly, because she’s never tolerated her children being disrespectful. But now that Spencer is legally an adult, there’s only so much she can do. Dillon is almost big as Spencer. I can’t believe we’ve been really watching this actor grow up. He is been pretty booked and busy out of All American.
Daniel Ezra has been doing an amazing job of portraying a person who’s running from their grief. This version of Spencer is the complete opposite of the one we have known throughout the series, and it’s jarring to watch the difference. I jumped when he punched a hole in the furniture, and that was the moment that he finally realized that he was spiraling out of control.
I like seeing Jabari and JJ interact. I don’t think these two have had many interactions, but it’s a nice reminder of how Spencer and Coach Baker have brought so many people together. I’m still worried about JJ. He’s right on the edge of disaster, but nobody has noticed it. I feel like when people are grieving, there’s a thin line to travel between, giving them space if they need it and being there when they need somebody. But with the way Spencer was going, he really did need urgent intervention. He needed people to be there for him.
Seeing Jordan and the GAU team have fun was a nice break from the heaviness of the last few episodes. Also, I think coach Kenny could possibly be really influential on Jordan and his personal growth and leadership style. I’m still not completely convinced that he’ll be a Jordans guy, though.
Patient messed up as soon as I saw her meet with Miko and when she left her personal belongings around her unattended. Also, I’m pretty sure she didn’t even tell anybody that she was meeting up with Miko either since they know how she is and Layla specifically advised her to stay away from her.
When Liv met with Alicia, I honestly had the same thought that Alicia said if any woman is gonna save Spencer from this situation, it’s gonna be Olivia. The bump they had was much closer than what Spencer had with Alicia.
Spencer Acknowledges His Anger
Spencer at the start of this episode terrified me and I don’t know who this is. It really is interesting from the perspective that we feel the same way Coop is feeling. We’re like “this isn’t the Spencer that we know”. And if we encounter that we would not feel safe in that in the presence of that person.
So it really got to the point where that’s when Spencer realized “I need to call Doctor Spears. Because if I scared my little brother and I scared my best friend then there is clearly something wrong. I am running from something and I think it’s time for me to get help”.
So shout to Grace for saying, “oh, you’re seeing Doctor Spears”. And I’m really happy that she really brought it back up. And I feel like that was the moment of him, kind of the lead-up of him stepping up onto Dillon, him dissing D’Angelo, and him saying he doesn’t have to live underneath the house anymore.
And to the moment where him getting angry at Coop about Coop confronting him about “why you’ve been acting like this and this isn’t OK. We don’t know who you are.” That was the breaking point of scaring Dillon to like “I need help”. And I’m glad that Grace paved the way; that was the final straw where he knew he needed to call for help. A lot more happened in Episode 15, but let’s discuss when and what will happen in the release of Episode 16 of All American Season 5.
Spencer Deals With His Sorrow
Doctor Spears finally gets Spencer to let out how he’s feeling, and he has to heal from feeling abandoned by his dad as a child. Since then, so many people have left Darnell, his mom, Dillon, he’s lost Sean, his father, and now Coach Baker. He got to say goodbye to Sean, his dad, but he didn’t get to say goodbye to Billy. He blames himself for Billy’s death because he didn’t pick up.
Blaming himself and feeling like he could have possibly changed something is definitely in line with Spencer’s character. The same way Spencer asks “why they keep leaving him” made me think about the scene and The Fresh Prince of Belair where Will ask Uncle Phil why his father didn’t want him, and I wonder if the writers drew inspiration from that Fresh Prince episode for this scene.
Spencer finally released what he needs to say on the Ferris wheel a couple of episodes back. When he called Coach Baker’s phone and left a voicemail. I love that everyone showed up for Spencer, including Darnell. That was like the icing on the cake at that moment. And just when I thought Alicia was done and Spencer and Olivia were back on, here she comes. I’m curious to see how this will pan out.
Then saw that Darnell is back for a short minute. As you know, he’s been on another show called BMF. If you guys watched that, he was on that show. But he’s back for a little bit, even if it’s just for a little bit. It was good to see Darnell, man.
All American Season 5 Episode 16 Release Date & Preview
Now, let’s just get the bad news completely out of the way right away: There won’t be any new episodes on the network for the next seven days. The following week is the same. It appears like All American Season 5 Episode 16 will release on 17 April 2023 on The CW based on the majority of the early listings we have currently seen. From that point on, you will see an arc that will last for the remainder of the season.
Is this season’s final arc going to make you a little off somehow? Considering that there aren’t any brand-new episodes of All American: Homecoming airing at the same time, we most definitely believe this. You don’t need to worry about that because we also know that season 6 is on the way. Just stress over how the season will end and whether or not we will be building to some type of jaw-dropping cliffhanger.
Therefore, we also have a feeling to believe that the plot for this cast will be obvious going forward in terms of the theme: Sorrow. And it will play a significant part in it. Based on what we’ve seen, we’re not sure how you can say more than that! Keep in mind that everyone is still reeling from Billy Baker’s death, and therefore don’t anticipate things to change much once the show resumes again. Although some wounds can be healed with time, not all of them will.
