“After the Flood” is ITV’s latest six-part thriller from Mick Ford is the screenwriter. It shows the characters dodging the waterside Deluge in Yorkshire, and more bad days are coming.
To make things worse, the dead body of a man is found in an underground car park life and investigators are searching for evidence in all the chaos. It was thought that he died of flooding but no there’s a lot more twist in the story.
Where was the show filmed?
Although the movie “After the Flood” is set in the made-up Yorkshire town of Waterside, filming took place in the Peak District and around Greater Manchester.
The series was set in the old market town of Glossop in Derbyshire, with the facade of the Waterside Police Station sourced from the recently shuttered NatWest.
While this was happening, the charming alleys of Old Glossop with their rows of stone cottages transformed into rushing torrents, and sandbags were employed to keep the actual houses dry.
Also on the filming schedule was an abandoned subterranean car park in Stockport, where the uncovering of an unidentifiable corpse opens the broader mystery, and, in episode four, the town’s famous Market Hall.
“After the Flood” begins with scenes shot in the Manchester neighborhood of Stretford, showing a mother and her infant caught in the storm’s eye.
Producers had to convince the owner to provide permission to film in the garden of a Bury private residence for the riverside shots.
Lead Sophie Rundle described the set, which included a flooded street in other sequences, she said it was like a huge water tank with two fake homes on either side, and it was filmed near Manchester’s Trafford Centre.
Meanwhile, the White Water Centre in Stockton-on-Tees provided the dramatic backdrop for the baby’s rescue sequences. Its 300-meter course is pumped with more than 14,000 liters of water each second by multiple 30-ton machines.
Is the show based on a true story?
Even though the newest thriller on ITV is a work of fiction, the show’s creative team has shared how they adapted a terrifying true tale for one of the most terrifying plots in “After the Flood.”
A tragic couple’s death in Tel Aviv, according to writer Mick Ford, inspired the notion of a corpse being discovered in an elevator.
Ford claims that they went down in a lift with fused electrics and got drowned, he used that and turned it into the whole unknown dead body plot.
The all-too-real effects of climate change on the town’s inhabitants are also covered in the series. He came across this image of a flash flood in a Yorkshire town where buildings were being destroyed by a wall of water.
It was crucial to understand that influence. They were talking about things that can’t be denied.
