Adult Swim has officially renewed President Curtis for Season 2 before the animated series has even premiered. The announcement was made during the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, giving fans an early vote of confidence in the latest expansion of the Rick and Morty universe.
The upcoming comedy stars Emmy Award-winning actor Keith David as President Andre Curtis, a fan-favorite character from the original series, and is set to debut on Sunday, July 26, at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on Adult Swim. New episodes will stream the following day on HBO Max.
The Comic-Con panel featured Keith David alongside co-stars Stephanie Beatriz and Jim Rash, as well as co-creators and executive producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano. The early renewal signals Adult Swim’s confidence in the series, which shifts the spotlight from Rick Sanchez to the world leaders and government officials left to deal with the bizarre threats that exist throughout the Rick and Morty universe.
Season 2 announced before the show’s debut
Adult Swim confirmed that President Curtis Season 2 is already in production, ensuring the adventures of President Andre Curtis will continue beyond the first season. According to the network, the second season will feature new cryptid threats, unexpected allies, and increasingly strange science fiction missions as Curtis and his team face challenges that stretch far beyond ordinary politics.
Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen celebrated the early renewal, saying,
“President Curtis quickly proved himself worthy of another term!”
He also praised Keith David’s performance and the creative team behind the series, adding,
“With Keith David’s inimitably endearing performance and the creativity of Dan, James and the entire show team, this series and this President are what the people need more of—even if they don’t know it yet.”

A new perspective on the Rick and Morty universe
Unlike its parent series, President Curtis follows the U.S. president and his eccentric staff as they tackle crises that Rick Sanchez has no interest in solving. From interdimensional diplomacy and paranormal investigations to unexplained supernatural events, the series explores another side of the shared universe while maintaining the franchise’s signature blend of science fiction and comedy.
Keith David reprises his role as President Andre Curtis, joined by Stephanie Beatriz and Jim Rash in key supporting roles. The series is executive produced by Dan Harmon, James Siciliano, Danielle Uhlarik, Monica Mitchell, and Steve Levy.
With an early Season 2 renewal announced before audiences have even seen the premiere, Adult Swim has positioned President Curtis as one of its next major animated franchises within the expanding Rick and Morty universe.
