Nearly a decade after its original release, Bloodborne remains one of PlayStation’s most requested games for a remaster or PC release. Even former Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida admits he has no idea why the acclaimed action RPG has yet to receive updated versions.

Shuhei Yoshida says he is as confused as fans

Speaking during a keynote at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference (CEDEC), Yoshida acknowledged the ongoing demand for the game and said he is frequently asked about its future.

“This game [Bloodborne] has a lot of fans all over the world, and it still doesn’t have a PS5 version. PlayStation’s first-party team is releasing a ton of remasters, so why don’t they release this one? There’s no PC release.”

He added that the situation remains

“a complete mystery,”

saying,

“Maybe they’ll come out in the future. Maybe they won’t. Maybe they’ll make a special edition. Maybe they won’t. As a huge fan, I hope it will come out.”

Developed by FromSoftware and directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, Bloodborne launched exclusively on PlayStation 4 in 2015 and is widely regarded as one of the best action RPGs ever made. Despite Sony bringing several first-party titles to PC and releasing multiple remasters in recent years, Bloodborne has yet to receive similar treatment.

During his presentation, Yoshida also spoke about his career at PlayStation and joked that earning the Bloodborne Platinum Trophy and defeating the challenging Watchdog of the Old Lords boss live on stage was one of his proudest gaming moments.
