Crimson Desert has returned to the spotlight on Steam, with the base game climbing 27 positions to secure fourth place on South Korea’s top sellers chart ahead of its first paid expansion. The upcoming DLC, officially titled Charting the Unknown, has also attracted strong pre-order interest, suggesting that the new content is bringing players back to Pearl Abyss’ open-world action-adventure.
According to INVEN Global, the base game reached No. 4 on South Korea’s Steam revenue chart on October 29, 2026. The expansion climbed 64 positions to fifth place on the Korean pre-order chart. Their performance also extended to the global rankings, where the base game secured 12th place and the upcoming DLC reached 14th.
Crimson Desert Returns to Steam’s Top Sellers Ahead of DLC Launch
The base game’s renewed momentum is notable because it had been outside Steam’s global top 100 in the preceding week, according to INVEN’s report. Its reappearance on the October 29 chart points to increased sales ahead of the expansion’s release.
The DLC’s strong pre-order performance also suggests that existing players are interested in returning to Pywel for additional adventures. However, the chart positions alone do not establish how many copies the game or expansion has sold.
Pearl Abyss originally planned to release the expansion earlier in October but postponed it to allow additional development time. In its official announcement, the developer explained that it needed more time to deliver a
“more polished and stable gameplay experience.”

The expansion introduces several additions to the existing Crimson Desert experience, including ocean sailing and underwater exploration. Players can dive beneath the waves to discover ruins, treasure chests, new creatures, and mounts.
According to Pearl Abyss’ official DLC features overview, the expansion also introduces three character-specific storylines for Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane. Players who meet the relevant requirements can access these stories after completing the main campaign.
Other additions include an upgraded housing system, management activities, and the ability to claim and customize certain castles. These features give players more activities beyond the game’s existing combat and exploration.
Pearl Abyss will release Charting the Unknown on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Epic Games Store. The expansion costs 27,800 won in South Korea, while its Steam price is listed at $24.99. The release is scheduled for October 29 in North America and Europe, with the Asian launch taking place on October 30.
The developer has also confirmed that a patch for the base game will arrive alongside the expansion. Players should install the update before starting the game. Pre-order customers can receive exclusive diving suit sets for Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane.
With the expansion introducing new stories, underwater discoveries, and additional activities, Crimson Desert is gaining renewed attention seven months after its original launch. Its rising Steam ranking offers an early indication of interest in the new content, although sustained sales after release will provide a clearer picture of its long-term impact.
