Despite Hope and MG’s protests, Alaric decides to close the Salvatore School. Hope summons Landon and requests that he bring her Klaus’ spirit; Landon reveals that resurrecting their friends has left him emotionless. Landon and Ethan discover Klaus has already found Peace, but they arrange for him to send Hope a final message in which Klaus guides Hope for the rest of her life and says he loves her forever and ever.
After receiving a present from Josie, Alaric decides to keep the school open. Still, it leaves them to write the definitive history of the supernatural beings he’s encountered so that the rest of the world can learn about them, leaving Caroline in charge.
Ethan finds Peace while Jed goes to start a new life with Ben after discovering that his resurrection has reset his curse and made him human again. Cleo has a vision while using her powers to see Kaleb’s hidden past, revealing that Kaleb will do a lot of good in the future for people like them, and it’s implied that Cleo will one day become headmaster. Why Was Legacies Canceled?
With Legacy’s conclusion, it will be the first time in over a decade that the Vampire Diaries or any of its spin-offs, sequels, and related materials are off the air. In 2009, when the initial series dropped, filling in a void for Buffy The Vampire Slayer, True Blood, and the Twilight hype, the show became a hit. With it came the success story for the franchise. But after thirteen years, serial decay, and a bad run at viewership, The CW and Warner simply decided to pull the plug on the show. The vampire hype is over, and the network is giving another slew of shows a shot at the primetime slot. Surely, some fans will be disappointed. But there are always reruns, comic con, and fan-fiction.
