What happened in Jeff Gladney’s car accident? In a shocking turn of events, cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals, Jeff Gladney has passed away after being in a car accident. As the cause of the accident is still under investigation, the Cardinals have issued a statement further confirming the devastating news! There was a woman named Mercedes Palacios, 26, who also died in the accident as her family confirmed to the station.
The statement says how the family is devastated to learn of Jeff Gladney’s passing. The team further said that their hearts go out to his family, friends and all who are mourning this tremendous loss. Gladney had earlier signed with the Cardinals in March and as the team revealed, was expected to play a significant role on defence this season. Gladney was 25 years old.
Team members have paid their respect to the young athlete
Gladney used to play for Texas Christian University before he was selected as a first-round NFL draft pick for the Minnesota Vikings in 2020. Jeff was not cleared to play that season after he faced trial as he faced a felony assault charge. However, he was acquitted in March, and this is shortly before signing on with the Cardinals. Fellow player Jalen Reagor also mourned the death.

The Vikings have also issued a statement saying how saddened they are by the tragic death of former Viking Jeff Gladney. It further read that the entire team’s hearts go out to his family and friends, as well as the Arizona Cardinals organization and Jeff’s current and former teammates and coaches who are mourning his “life lost much too soon”.
The athletic director at TCU, Jeremiah Donati has also released a statement on behalf of the TCU Athletics family, and especially the football program, stating how very devastated they are to learn of the passing of Jeff Gladney. They further remembered the young athlete as someone who loved everything about his alma mater and was a frequent visitor to campus and was at their spring practices and spring game this year, and will be missed by their entire community.
