In Chapter 70, Shin struggles to cope with Gaku’s movements as his vision gets blurry. While Gaku and Shin are busy fighting each other, Kaji focuses on his hearing ability and closely analyses Gaku’s movements. He sees how Gaku almost shatters Shin with a single short-range punch, and he replicates it on Gaku moments later. Surprised by this stunt, Shin asks Kaji if he was holding back all this time. To which Kaji replies that he required time to pull that off with precision.
Much like Tengen Uzui of the Demon Slayer series, Kaji starts reading Gaku’s movements like the notes of music. By perceiving the vibrations, he can accurately determine Gaku’s range of action and attack speed. He fights toe to toe with him and even gets the upper hand for some time. Just when we think that the tables are turning, Gaku bursts into anger and stabs Kaji’s abdomen with his bare hands. He keeps beating Kaji into a pulp even when he is unconscious, and he throws Shin flying with a single punch. Thankfully, Sakamoto shows up just in time and saves them from an untimely death.
