Barry S03E01 Recap
Barry Season 3 Episode 1 opens up six months after the events of the monastery shooting. He finds himself in the middle of the desert as he is taking orders from a common man. The man wants to punish a guy who cheated on his wife but comes to forgive him, which doesn’t fit right with Barry, who ends up shooting them both.
We learn that Barry has been living with Sally for a while now and spends nights playing video games. After abandoning his former associates, not much has worked in Barry’s favor and at the same time, finding a proper hitman job is a hassle as well when it comes to hunting it online. On Craigslist, he gets all the lame missions that don’t live up to his professionalism.
Coming to Sally, she has been doing more than one job on her set. An awkward meeting while reviewing a footage Sally shot doesn’t go that well. Sally hopes for the best after the observations she received. She later takes it out on Natalie by asking her not to speak in the middle of a meeting.
Amidst all of this, Detective Mae Dunn investigates the monastery shooting by bringing in Hank first. Hank is surprised to know that Barry tried to frame him with a pin he gave him as a gift. Still, Hank comes in a circle to tell them that it’s Fuches who killed their detective and gives away his name as The Raven.
Next up, Cousineau identifies Fuches as the man who took him to the body. Cousineau tries to tell the detectives that he is connected to Barry, but they had already cleared him up as a suspect.
We see Barry heading up to Hank again after failing to get a good job. Hank isn’t really happy to see him and not ready to forgive Barry for what he did. Hank believes Forgiveness should be earned. Surprisingly, Cousineau calls Barry for some work, but it was all about confrontation. Cousineau wanted Barry to turn himself in, or he was going to kill him.
Well, none of the above things happen. Instead, we are back to the location that opened the season. This time Barry was about to kill Cousineau, but Hank’s words about forgiveness help him change his mind.

Barry Season 3 Episode 1 Review
Barry Season 3 Episode 1 is off to a great start as it establishes the aftermath of events from the monastery shooting. The show gives us some time to tell us where they are in their life now. There are a number of people who are really not happy with Barry. This, in turn, also has affected his career ever since he thought of moving away from the contract-killing jobs.
Amidst all of this, Barry’s attempt at the acting side of things also sees his contract killing life crossing over. For example, in two of the scenes in the episode. First, when he comes to give flowers to Sally, he sees a gunshot wound appearing on her forehead. Similarly, it happens with Cousineau when he was about to kill him.
Coming to Sally, it seems like her success is slowly getting into her head. Especially when she received a review for one of her show’s footage. The show tells us about her ego building up in a scene with Natalie where she is not particularly happy about Natalie helping her during the meeting. Natalie was one of Sally’s peers and somehow is doing the job as her assistant now.
Lastly, our favorite part of the episode would have been Hank’s interrogation. Hank continues to be the most hilarious character on the show, and the interrogation part was a treat. He was not scared, but a little excited about the interrogation, and the story he presented was, of course, not believable but something we really enjoyed.
While Hank is, of course, the funniest one in the show, his wise words were the turning point of the episode. Barry opened up the season with the character stating there is no forgiveness. It’s Hank’s words, “Forgiveness is something that has to be earned,” changed it all for Barry.
