‘Yoon Bak’ started his career in the entertainment industry of Korea by becoming a drummer for the band ‘Can’t Play Well’. Yoon Bak can rightfully claim that he has been part of Korea’s two biggest entertainment companies in his life. He used to be a part of SM Entertainment from 2009 to 2013. After this, he joined JYP Entertainment in 2013. Before signing with a different company in 2021, Yoon starred in ‘What Happens to My Family’ in 2014, and ‘Flower of Queen’ in 2015. Then, he finally transferred to H& Entertainment. Joining H& Entertainment turned out to be a good thing as he got many roles in various dramas from then on.
Yoon Bak recently had an interview with Maeil Business where he talked about his chemistry with his fellow cast members, and about how he was about to turn down the offer of starring in ‘Forecasting Love and Weather’. He even talked about how he was ready to get married ever since he was a kid. He said that he wanted to settle down and have a family as soon as possible. We like a family man, don’t we? His performance in all his dramas has been convincing and praise-worthy. He sure is on his way to stardom.
The Maeil Business Interview
The interview had him talk about his role in his latest drama ‘Forecasting Love and Weather’. He played the role of Han Ki Joon who cheated on his fiancé Jin Ha Kyung (played by Park Min Young). His character is one pathetic person at the beginning, clinging to his ex after cheating on her. But, he finally ends up marrying Chae Yoo Jin (played by Girl’s Day Yura).
Difficulty While Understanding his Character
Park Bak opened up about his experience while managing to get into his character. He said that it was a challenge for him to act his part because he couldn’t understand what his character was thinking at all. He couldn’t relate to him at all. He said that while reading the script of the drama he couldn’t understand the behavior and thinking of his character.
He also talked about the people who gave him advice that finding people like Han Ki Joon was very common, and that if he worked hard enough while trying to figure out his character, he’ll make it. He said that these bits of advice pushed him to analyze the interpersonal connections of his character.
Yoon Bak about to Turn Down the Acting Offer
Yoon Bak told the interviewer that he was about to turn down the offer of starring in ‘Forecasting Love and Hate’ because of the difficulty he faced with the character he was supposed to play. But, the director of the drama convinced Yoon Bak to participate in the K-Drama. The director told him that if he acted in the drama, his personal good traits would help his character Han Ki Joon get a positive response. Han Ki Joon’s bad traits would be overcome by Yoon Bak’s positive traits in the viewer’s eyes.
Han Ki Joon’s Lowest Point
The lowest point in the drama of Han Ki Joon, for Yoon Bak, was when he followed his ex (Park Min Young) secretly and cried in front of her. He said that he found it pathetic. He also mentioned the time when Han Ki Joon talked to his ex about a misunderstanding but said that those were his sincere feelings. However, he repeated that following his ex was completely disgraceful and dishonorable. We agree with his viewpoint- Following your ex is plain creepy.
Yoon Bak had more to say about his character. He spoke about his fear of reaching a scary moment where he’d started seeing his character in good light. He was trying his best to stay true to his role in the drama while acting flexibly.
‘Forecasting Love and Weather’ Popularity
When asked about how Yoon Bak felt about the popularity of the drama ‘Forecasting Love and Weather’, he replied that he wasn’t the type of person who expects anything from his work since nothing can be revealed before the result comes out. Nevertheless, he expressed his happiness and gratitude for the interest and love that the drama received from people. He commented that he knew that the drama was gaining popularity because he got calls from the people he knew saying that they were enjoying the drama and asked him about what was going to happen next.
Yoon Bak’s Chemistry with His Co-Stars
Yoon Bak was enthusiastic when talking about his chemistry with the female lead of the drama, Park Min Young. He said that the two had great teamwork because they both prepared for the scenes beforehand, and joked that they could start filming without any practice. He expressed how much fun they had while filming.
As For his on-screen wife, Yura from Girl’s Day, he remarked that she works hard and was even able to act out the emotional parts of her character very well. He praised her work ethic and even commented that she could be called an actress instead of a singer. Talking about his experience of working with Song Kang, he said that it was very comfortable and they exchanged opinions well. He went on to talk about his plans about getting married in real life, but since we’ve already talked about it earlier in the article, let’s end it here. Annyeong!
