Shining Vale Season 1 Episode 6 marks the end of Pat’s struggle to write a book that will help her succeed. Especially with Terry quitting his job, she is the backbone of her family. It took a month of constant focus but Pat did come to a conclusion and believes the book is really good. Only to find out from Kam later on that this book may not work and it may not be enough for a summer push.
While the book was one thing, Pat didn’t realize how much her family has changed over the course of time. Everyone was into something different. Anyway, the time she thought she could spend with family turned into a rewriting session. This saw her going back to Rosemary. This time around even Rosemary wanted something in return for helping Pat with the commercial success.
Shining Vale Season 1 Episode 6 Recap
Previously on Shining Vale, we opened up with Pat finally completing her book and coming down the half after almost a month. A lot had changed during this time she was away. Jake found himself obsessed with a video game not knowing he is looking for a ghost and not a non-playable character. After realizing that a ghost might be coming for her, Gaynor found herself joining the church and the church choir. Lastly, Terry had grown a beard and looked like a serial killer cutting wood and carving small dolls.
Pat took Terry to therapy believing he might be suffering from depression after quitting his job. But Terry decided he would rather find a way to heal on his own. Later on Pat met Kam who criticized Pat’s work after she decided to kill the character everyone loved, Rosemary. Kam also took a shot at the industry but this is how it goes. She believes if Pat couldn’t turn the story around, the publishers may go to a young writer named Claire Vanderbilt.
Now, Claire Vanderbilt might not be a great writer but she is young and that’s what sells. At least that’s what the people in power to publish believe. Pat agreed to turn the story around and bring back Rosemary to life despite writing an amazing story. But this time she faced difficulties writing it. She wanted Rosemary to manifest her again but she would only come into her dreams telling her to take drugs.
Things got worse for Pat when Gaynor decided to get baptized. Despite avoiding a lot, Pat turned to drugs. When drugs didn’t work either, she used Valerie, Gaynor’s friend hoping she could summon a demon. This saw Valerie sitting down like possessed and writing something down that Pat wasn’t able to understand.
On the other side of the room, Rosemary appeared and wanted to cut a deal that may see her taking over Pat’s body. Pat agreed as Valerie ran away warning Pat that Rosemary isn’t that demon’s real name.
The episode closes with Gaynor getting baptized and Jake finding the ghost again but this time she tells her name and states she is real and lived in this house. After taking drugs, Rosemary possesses Pat and at the same time, Valerie commits suicide at Pat’s house after Rosemary possesses her as well.

Shining Vale Season 1 Episode 6 Review
Shining Vale Episode 6 takes a dig at the struggles of a writer. Thus exposing the politics that go behind the scenes. On top of that, how Pat being the rock of the family may need this book to be successful all over again. Apart from that, Gaynor and Pat’s relationship continues to be more like every teenage kid and mother relationship. No matter what decision a teenager may take, the mother/father will definitely question it.
Coming to Rosemary, Episode 6 of Shining Vale began hinting that there is more to this story. Especially during the scene when Pat cuts a deal with Rosemary to manifest her body to rewrite her book again as she is struggling. Certainly, Rosemary might be hiding something that wasn’t visible to the viewers or the character of Pat.
What if this was Rosemary’s plan all along to completely take over her body of Pat. Well, what kind of ghost asks before possessing? Killing Valerie may suggest that she was hinting to Pat about the same. Probably when she wrote something down on the paper during the time Rosemary appeared.
So coming episodes may reveal that there is a lot more to Rosemary’s story. If that’s really is her name. We have already started seeing her real plan in motion now when we saw her possessing Valerie to commit suicide.
We also wonder what would be the role of the ghost Daisy. Is she part of all this or here to aid Dylan in saving his family? Lastly, we would like to see more of Terry’s new persona before we could make any judgment. The last thing we enjoyed the most was probably another shot at The Shining when Terry asked Dylan to come and sit with him.
