Mike Goodnough, ex-boyfriend of Valerie Bertinelli, is sharing a raw and heartfelt statement regarding their recent breakup and the social media drama that ensued.
On Friday, April 18, Goodnough posted on Instagram, expressing his regret over a previous post that publicly aired details about their relationship, which led to more media attention and personal conflict.
In his message, Goodnough, 54, admitted to the pain of discussing the breakup, describing the process as “absolutely miserable.”

He explained that his earlier post, meant to address their situation, only made things worse, acknowledging the complexity of their relationship.
Goodnough emphasized that although they had a deep love for each other, their relationship was affected by external factors, and ultimately, the breakup in November 2024 was deeply painful.
Goodnough went on to reflect on how the dissolution of their relationship had impacted him emotionally, saying that the heartbreak had “entirely changed the scale of how much heartbreak can hurt.” He also shared that despite their split, his care for Bertinelli never truly ended.
He clarified that after several months of minimal communication, he had hoped for a “gentle parting,” but that it hadn’t materialized.
He had reached out to Bertinelli again recently, but received no response, which he has come to accept.
The couple’s breakup had been a topic of public speculation since November 2024, but Goodnough made it clear that he no longer wishes to discuss the matter further, stating,
“I won’t have anything more to say about it — and nothing I have to say will be about it.”
Despite the emotional toll, Goodnough expressed his desire to move on from this chapter, closing it for good.
