Jack Reacher, played by Alan Ritchson, is back on television with the highly awaited third season of Reacher. This season will bring another thrilling mission based on Persuader, the seventh novel in Lee Child’s famous book series. As Reacher prepares to take on a new challenge, let’s take a detailed look at everything that happened in Season 2.
Each season of Reacher is based on a different book from the Jack Reacher series. Season 1 was based on The Killing Floor, the first book in the series. Season 2 skipped ahead to Bad Luck and Trouble, the eleventh book.
Season 3 will now adapt Persuader, and the story will follow Reacher as he helps the Drug Enforcement Agency rescue an informant. Before we see what happens next, it is important to remember what went down in Season 2.

Reacher Reunites With His Old Army Team
Season 2 takes place more than two years after the events of Season 1. Jack Reacher has been living his usual wandering lifestyle, moving from place to place.
However, everything changes when he gets a distress call from his former military teammate, Frances Neagley (played by Maria Sten). She tells him that another old teammate, Calvin Franz (Luke Bilyk), has been murdered.
Reacher and Neagley know they cannot rely on the New York Police Department to investigate the murder. They take matters into their own hands and start searching for answers. Soon, they find out that Franz is not the only one who has been killed.
Two more former teammates, Jorge Sanchez (Andres Collantes) and Manuel Orozco (Edsson Morales), have also been murdered. Another teammate, Tony Swan (Shannon Kook-Chun), is missing, and no one knows if he is alive or dead.
Realizing they are dealing with something bigger, Reacher and Neagley reunite with two more members of their old military police unit—the 110th Special Investigations Unit. Karla Dixon (Serinda Swan) and David O’Donnell (Shawn Sipos) join them, bringing back the strength of their old team. Together, they try to uncover the truth behind their friends’ deaths.
Their investigation leads them to a powerful defense contractor called New Age Technologies. The deeper they dig, the more they realize that their old teammates were murdered because they got too close to a dangerous secret. The head of security at New Age Technologies, Shane Langston (Robert Patrick), is behind the entire operation.
The team’s search for justice takes them across multiple cities, including New York, Atlantic City, Boston, and Denver. They receive help from Detective Oscar Finlay (Malcolm Goodwin), a man Reacher once worked with in Season 1. Finlay is now based in Boston and uses his resources to assist Reacher in uncovering the truth.
A High-Stakes Conspiracy Unfolds
Reacher and his team soon discover that Langston is leading a major conspiracy. He and his partners are trying to steal a missile defense system called Little Wing and sell it on the black market. They plan to hand over this top-secret technology to foreign enemies of the United States.
Langston is working with Azhari Mahmoud (Ferdinand Kingsley), an international criminal and weapons broker. Mahmoud is in charge of making the deal happen. When Franz, Orozco, and Sanchez started investigating Langston, they got too close to the truth. To protect his illegal operation, Langston ordered their murders.
Reacher also worries that Tony Swan, his missing teammate, might have betrayed them. He fears that Swan may have chosen to work with Langston instead of staying loyal to his old unit. This possibility makes the situation even more complicated.
Reacher and His Team Fight Back
As Reacher and his teammates continue their investigation, Langston sends armed men after them. Thugs and mercenaries try to stop them at every turn. Despite the danger, the 110th Special Investigations Unit refuses to back down.
During the mission, they form an uneasy alliance with Detective Guy Russo (Domenick Lombardozzi) from the New York Police Department. Reacher does not trust Russo at first, but Russo proves his loyalty by protecting Franz’s widow and son. Langston sends assassins to the funeral, hoping to eliminate more of the 110th, but Russo bravely fights back.
Later in the season, Russo makes an even bigger sacrifice. He gives up his own life to protect Jane Burns (Kate Moyer), the daughter of a witness. Jane’s mother, Marlo Burns (Christina Cox), is an executive at New Age Technologies. She tried to expose Langston’s crimes, but he ordered her killed.
In one of the most heartbreaking moments of the season, Langston’s men fatally shoot Russo. As he lies dying, Neagley—who struggles with a deep fear of physical touch—overcomes her fear and holds Russo’s hand. It is a powerful moment that shows how much the fight for justice means to them.
A Final Battle Against Langston
The season reaches its most intense moment when Langston kidnaps Dixon and O’Donnell. He tortures them, hoping to lure Reacher into a trap. Reacher gives himself up, but he has a plan.
Langston reveals a shocking truth—Tony Swan was not a traitor. Instead, Swan had been trying to stop Langston all along. Langston murdered him and used his eyeball for security scans to make it look like Swan was guilty.
Luckily, Reacher and Neagley are prepared for this final showdown. They launch an attack on Langston’s compound with help from U.S. Senator Malcolm Lavoy (Noam Jenkins). However, Lavoy is not their ally—he is trying to cover up the entire Little Wing operation.
In an action-packed climax, Reacher manages to take down Langston. In a dramatic twist, Reacher throws Langston out of a helicopter, giving him the same fate Langston gave to Franz at the beginning of the season. With Langston dead, Reacher and his team head to Mahmoud’s meeting point and eliminate him as well.
Lavoy’s men try to turn on Reacher, but he is one step ahead. He exposes the senator’s corruption, leading to Lavoy’s arrest. Justice is finally served for the fallen members of the 110th.
The Team Goes Their Separate Ways
With the mission complete, the surviving members of the 110th must decide their next steps. Reacher takes the money that was meant for the Little Wing deal and divides it among the victims’ families. He gives some to Langston’s victims, his fallen teammates’ relatives, and Russo’s loved ones.
Reacher has no desire for wealth, so he keeps only a small amount to buy a one-year bus pass. He plans to continue traveling across the country, just as he always has.
Meanwhile, Dixon decides to use her share of the money to start her own private investigation business. She and Reacher had a romantic connection in the past, and they rekindle their relationship briefly during the season. However, their paths are different, and they part ways.
The final scene of the season shows Reacher and Neagley saying goodbye in New York City. Neagley reminds Reacher that they should stay in touch more often, not just when their lives are in danger. She tells him that their unit is more than just a team—they are family.
As Reacher boards a bus to his next destination, an elderly man asks if he was visiting someone in the city. Reacher simply replies, “I was visiting family.” It is a touching moment that shows how much his old teammates truly mean to him.
Reacher Season 3 premieres on February 20 on Prime Video. The first three episodes will be available immediately, with new episodes released weekly until March 27. Fans can also catch up on the first two seasons, which are streaming now.
