Disney+ announced on May 29 that its upcoming original series, “Tempest,” will debut in 2025. The drama features Jun Ji Hyun as Moon Ju, a renowned diplomat and former U.S. ambassador who partners with San Ho, portrayed by Kang Dong Won, a mysterious special agent of undisclosed nationality.
Together, they explore a vast conspiracy involving an assassination linked to both North and South Korea.
Jun Ji Hyun’s character, Moon Ju, is respected globally for her sharp judgment and decisive actions. Her investigation into the assassination reveals a complex political plot, positioning her at the center of a high-stakes international intrigue.
Kang Dong Won’s San Ho adds an enigmatic layer to the story. A former elite mercenary with a shrouded past, San Ho’s skills and secrets make him an invaluable yet unpredictable ally.
This marks Kang Dong Won’s return to television after a two-decade hiatus since his last drama, “Magic,” in 2004. He will contribute to the project as a producer, enhancing his creative influence on the series.
The cast also includes Oh Jung Se, who will join Jun Ji Hyun and Kang Dong Won, adding further depth to the ensemble.
“Tempest” is crafted by the talented screenwriter Jung Seo Kyung and director Kim Hee Won, known for their collaboration on “Little Women.” Jung Seo Kyung has a notable portfolio, including critically acclaimed works like “The Handmaiden,” “Mother,” and “Decision to Leave.” Kim Hee Won has directed popular dramas such as “The Crowned Clown,” “Crash Landing on You,” and “Vincenzo.”
