Following the shocking revelations from the “Burning Sun Gate” scandal, HyunA has found herself at the center of controversy once again. On May 28, HyunA posted photos from her trip to Japan on social media, showing her enjoying meals, shopping, and collecting cute accessories.
However, fans were quick to notice a man’s silhouette reflected on a store wall, which they assumed to be her boyfriend, Yong Junhyung.
Yong Junhyung, formerly of BEAST, was implicated in the “Burning Sun” scandal, which involved numerous cases of sexual violence and corruption. Despite not being part of the infamous KakaoTalk chat group, Yong admitted to watching and sharing illegal videos with Jung Joon Young.
This revelation led to his expulsion from BEAST and subsequent enlistment in active military duty, though he faced no legal consequences and failed to apologize to the victims.
HyunA’s fans, who had previously supported her relationship with Dawn, were disappointed and angered by her association with Yong. They felt betrayed by her decision to date someone linked to such a notorious scandal, especially given her stance on women’s rights and empowerment.
In November 2022, HyunA broke up with Dawn and started dating Yong in January 2024. The relationship has since cost her a significant portion of her fanbase. Supporters cannot reconcile her advocacy for women’s rights with her choice of partner, leading to accusations of hypocrisy.

With Yong’s involvement confirmed, fans struggle to understand how HyunA can remain indifferent to the controversy, enjoying her time with him while the victims continue to suffer.
