Kaiju No. 8 debuted its anime adaptation in April 2024, receiving enthusiastic acclaim from fans. Viewers praised everything from the storyline and animation to the voice acting, finding very little to criticize.
The cast, in particular, brought an extra layer of entertainment to the anime, as evidenced by their recent appearance at AnimeJapan 2024.
At the event, five cast members from Kaiju No. 8 made a lively impression. Masaya Fukunishi, the voice of Kafka Haibino, Asami Seto as Ashiro Mina, Wataru Katō voicing Reno Ichikawa, Fairouz Ai playing Kikoru Shinomiya, and Kengo Kawanishi as Socshiro Hoshina were all present.
The AnimeJapan host seized the opportunity to suggest a game, which the cast playfully agreed to.
The game aimed to test the camaraderie between the voice actors, mirroring the teamwork of their characters in the anime. Divided into two teams, the voice actors had to answer questions about each other.
The first question asked which character among them they would befriend. Fukunishi and Katō chose Reno and Hoshina, while Kawanishi and Seto selected Kikoru. This unexpected split amused the group and led to some good-natured teasing.
The next question asked if they preferred ranged or melee weapons. Only Fukunishi and Fairouz chose melee, while Kawanishi and Seto opted for ranged, resulting in a point for the first team.
Another question asked about Fukunishi’s most memorable trait during recording, with Katō mentioning bananas and Seto agreeing, while Kawanishi chose Fukunishi’s smile, with Katō agreeing. This tied the score, creating a fun and competitive atmosphere.
Despite the mixed results, the host awarded everyone with gifts. The event highlighted the bond and playful rivalry among the Kaiju No. 8 voice actors, leaving fans delighted and eagerly awaiting more from the anime series.
