A setback occurred during the pre-recording of Mnet’s “M Countdown” on May 16th when a fire broke out at a filming studio in the CJ ENM Center in Sangam, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The incident, reportedly caused by an issue with the set, disrupted preparations for Aespa’s performance of their new song “Supernova”.
aespa member Winter, who is currently recovering from pneumothorax surgery, reported feeling unwell following the accident. As a result, SM Entertainment announced that Winter would not participate in the live broadcast of ‘M Countdown’ due to the need for rest and stability. Only Karina, Giselle, and Ningning represented aespa during the broadcast.
In response to inquiries, SM Entertainment provided a statement to OSEN on May 16th, explaining Winter’s absence and indicating that her involvement in future activities would depend on her recovery progress.
Despite the setback, aespa recently released their double title track “Supernova” on May 13th and is gearing up for the launch of their highly anticipated first full-length album “Armageddon” on May 27th. Fans are hopeful for Winter’s swift recovery and return to activities with the group.
