During IVE’s performance at Incheon National University’s music festival on May 7, an incident involving Ahn Yujin and a male fan stirred controversy among fans and attendees.
Despite the group’s praise for live vocals and stage presence, discontent arose among university students due to the presence of non-university fans with large cameras, which obstructed views during the performance.
Following the event, photos circulated showing Ahn Yujin in what appeared to be a serious interaction with a male fan in the crowd. Witnesses described Ahn Yujin as having a stern expression while addressing the festivalgoer directly. Jang Wonyoung was also observed glancing at the fan with a serious demeanour before turning away.
The incident sparked outrage among international fans, who condemned the male fan’s alleged behaviour and expressed support for Ahn Yujin’s response. Reports suggested that the fan may have been attempting to film the group from inappropriate angles, leading to discomfort among the members.
While it remains unclear if the fan’s actions were intentional, many expressed hope that the incident did not cause disrespect or discomfort for IVE during their performance.
In other updates, IVE recently made a comeback with their second extended play, “IVE SWITCH,” on April 29, 2024. The mini-album includes six songs, including the lead single “HEYA.” Fans can anticipate the release of the music video for the album’s second single, “Accendio,” scheduled for May 15.
The incident involving Ahn Yujin has prompted discussions about fan behaviour and respect towards performers, highlighting the importance of maintaining a positive and respectful environment at live events.
