Comedian Nick Swardson attributes his disappointing stand-up performance in Colorado to alcohol and edibles. Renowned for his roles in Adam Sandler productions like “Just Go With It” and “Reno 911!,” Swardson took the stage at the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek on Sunday.
However, his routine fell flat, with fans voicing their displeasure as he meandered without delivering impressions, resulting in a restless crowd shouting and booing.
On Monday, Nick Swardson took to X to address the show, advising against mixing alcohol and edibles at high altitudes.
“Just casually woke up on TMZ. Travel tip: don’t drink and take edibles in high altitude. F—— brain diarrhea,” he wrote, promising to make it up to Beaver Creek.
In a video circulating on social media, Swardson teased an impression of Jason Statham in the upcoming film “Beekeeper.”
However, he repeatedly stalled, uttering “here we go” without delivering the promised impression. The restless crowd grew increasingly vocal, shouting and booing as Swardson failed to engage. When he asked if they wanted him to continue, the response was a resounding “No!”
Another clip depicted the theater lights illuminating and the spotlight on Swardson extinguishing, accompanied by the shutdown of his microphone.
A man approached the stage, engaging in conversation with Swardson before he exited with a wave.
Identifying himself as the director of operations, another man stepped onto the stage, issuing an apology for the disappointing performance.
“We decided to conclude the show early in the best interests of those who bought tickets,” the man said. “We apologize for what you’ve seen tonight. Please email the box office. They’ll be responding to inquiries and processing credits and refunds. We apologize.”
Several audience members expressed discontent over the premature termination of the show.
