Blue Lock just dropped a new trailer for its new movie, Blue Lock: Episode Nagi, in an anime/manga event that was held in Japan. Along with the trailer, they also revealed the release date for the movie.
Blue Lock really left a mark in the anime community with its first season. The uniqueness of the sports anime had everyone check it out at least once. While the other sports anime are about teamwork and friendship, Blue Lock is like, “I’m gonna do my own thing.” That is what makes it different from other sports anime/manga series.
Seeing the popularity of its anime, the studio didn’t hold back and decided to release its new movie. So, in this article, we are not just going to talk about the synopsis and the release date of the movie but also if it’s worth your money and time.
Blue Lock: Episode Nagi Manga
This anime movie will be based on the Blue Lock spin-off manga by the same, which has a different artist. As you know, Blue Lock manga is work done in collaboration with Nomura Yuusuke and Kaneshiro Muneyuki. While Nomura Yuusuke handles the storyline, Kaneshiro Muneyuki takes care of the work.
However, for Blue Lock: Episode Nagi manga, we have a different artist, Sannomiya Kouta, so it doesn’t slow down the official work. The manga started on 9 June 2022 and has a total of 17 chapters till now. The manga has monthly serialization since it has around 40-50 pages per chapter. As of now, 3 volumes have been released for this manga.
Synopsis
The story will be the same as the normal Blue Lock, I mean the story that we have seen in the season, and the only difference this movie is going to have is that instead of Isagi, Nagi will be the main character of the story.
Nagi has been a fan favorite ever since he was first introduced in the story, so seeing the popularity of a single character, the author of the manga chose to release a spin-off manga based on him. The anime movie is the adaptation of that spin-off manga.
In this movie, we will see Nagi’s Blue Lock journey from the start when he entered Blue Lock and all the matches that he played before playing against Isagi.
Should you watch Blue Lock: Episode Nagi?
In the manga, the story is unique until Nagi’s team clashes with Isagi’s team in the playoffs. After that, the story is almost the same as the main story since Nagi tags along with Isagi and Bachira for the next round.
So, if they are only going to adapt the movie till chapter 10, where Nagi’s team plays against Isagi’s team, then that will be good, but if they also show the story ahead of it, it will be pointless, and the viewers won’t like it all.
This movie is only made for a small section of people who like Nagi and those who are interested in knowing Nagi’s story in Blue Lock. However, if you are not that big of a fan of Nagi, and if you are not interested in knowing what he did before meeting Isagi, then this movie is not made for you. You can skip it without a second thought since it won’t matter.
Movie Release Date
Blue Lock: Episode Nagi is set to hit the theater on April 19, 2024, in Japan. Until now, we only have release dates for the Japanese region since every film is first released in Japan before its global release.
However, there is less chance that it will be released globally in many countries since it is a skippable movie that won’t have much impact on the story, whether you watch it or not. However, it will really be a good competition between Haikyuu and Blue Lock since both are releasing their movie this year.
Both franchises have a popular fan base in Japan, so the numbers of the Box office collection will decide what anime fans really like to watch these days: a sports anime on friendship and teamwork or egoism.
