The release date for RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under Season 3 Episode 1 is here. World of Wonder and Warner Bros. International Television Production New Zealand has created the reality competition series RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under, based on the American television program of the same name.
The program chronicles the hunt for “Down Under’s next drag superstar” by RuPaul and a group of judges. RuPaul plays host, coach, and judge on the show, much like in the American version.
As the host, RuPaul welcomes famous guests, outlines the weekly challenges the queens will participate in, and announces elimination contestants.
RuPaul coaches the contestants through each challenge, and as a judge, he provides feedback on how well the queens performed in general. From the initial field of ten drag queen competitors to the final four, the competition is reduced by progressive elimination on the show.
A lip-sync competition, judging round, runway walk, mini challenge, maxi challenge, and competitor elimination make up the format of each episode.
The Flash actor Keiynan Lonsdale, supermodel Rachel Hunter, and Mama Ru will be joining Mama Ru, Michelle Visage, and Rhys Nicholson on the judging panel, according to a recently released video for the third episode of the Australian spinoff.
Finding Down Under’s Next Drag Superstar will also enlist the assistance of former Miss Universe Australia Maria Thattil, Amyl and the Sniffers vocalist Amy Taylor, footballer Josh Cavallo, and singer Deva Mahal.
Ten additional queens from Australia and New Zealand are vying for the title this year, including Amyl, Ashley Madison, Bumpa Love, Flor, Gabriella Labucci, Hollywould Star, Isis Avis Loren, Ivanna Drink, and Rita Menu.
Each week, they will compete in a series of tasks for the chance to win the crown and become known as Down Under’s Next Drag Superstar.
BBC three viewers can look to the Antipodeans for their Summer Drag Race fix as ten beautiful Aussie and Kiwi queens battle over the course of eight weeks in a series of tasks designed to push their drag skills to the maximum.
