The last episode saw Rang being patched up while sleeping by Yeo-hee. When she goes, Yeon and Shin-Ju persuade Rang to get up. When he doesn’t, the two have funny conversations about how Rang would react if he found out that the girl is half-mermaid.
Rang declares that enough is enough and quits pretending to sleep before ordering the two to leave. As soon as they do, Rang understands that he must pay back Yeo-hee’s obligation to the half-mermaid.

Recap
Rang completely misinterprets her clear cues and feels compelled to act as her matchmaker. Yeon hears rumors about the guy in the red and white mask outside, bringing him one step closer to learning the truth.
The man informs him that Park Ga, who has amassed wealth from gold mining, is equipped with a cultural palace behind Joseon Bank. Although it appears that he was robbed, all of his belongings.
The one who sneaks into the mansion is revealed to be Shin-ju, but Sun-Woo Eun-ho holds him at gunpoint while he explores the place. Recognizing her as Yoo-ri, he assures her that this is just the very start of their love and begs her to give him a hug.
Instead, she kills the man in the stomach, causing him to ultimately flee while desperately dodging bullets. In the alleyway, Yeon and Shin-Joo meet up, and Yeon eventually encounters our disguised assassin.
Now that we are aware of who this is, Yeon and Moo-yeong engage in a flurry of gunfire. A large group of villagers who are also donning white and red masks strike as Yeon and Rang approach a corner. When Yeon learns that these men are being hired with gold to pose as human shields, he stops everything.
The golden ruler, which also happens to be a Silla empress’s treasure, is discovered by Shin-ju, Rang, and Yeon. According to legend, whoever controls this ruler has the power to bring the dead back to life and gain notoriety.
Taluipa, who is also present on the scene, wonders what Moo-yeong had in mind that evening. That evening, he confesses to her that he is here to bring his deceased brother back to life and recover everything he has lost.
However, it appears as Moo-yeong may genuinely become infected with something when he exposes a hideous scar or mysterious black growth on his chest. When Moo-yeong finally meets Hong-joo, she is surprised by how changed he has become.
Although he laments becoming a mountain god, he is nonetheless motivated by his desire for retribution. Rang sees Yeohee for an appointment at the same time, and they plan to go horseback riding.
Rang decides to teach her to ride alone while standing next to her, contrary to her hopes of riding with him. She laughs heartily when Rang offers to let her join the bandit category.
When the two do finally have a real conversation, Rang emphasizes that a half-demon, which is evidently what each of them is and shares, has no place on this earth. They have a very heartfelt conversation, and as the day draws to a close, Yeohee fulfills her goal and rides off into the sunset with Rang.
