The Scream movie franchise had the entire world in its chokehold at one point with its six movies, a television show, and even a video game. The franchise launched its first-ever film in 1996 and continued to release five more movies after the immense success of the first one. The first five movies had Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, and Roger Jackson, who were recast for the first five parts of the film.
For the most part, the films focus on Neve Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott, who struggles to protect herself from a series of threats from a notorious killer called Ghostface. Throughout the span of the movie, she receives help from other characters in the film like, Dewey Riley, the police officer, Gale Weathers, the reporter, and some of her other friends in the film.
The franchise’s probably one of the most famous characters includes its iconic villain, Ghostface. First played by actor Skeet Ulrich and then by Luke Wilson. Also named William Billy Loomis, the character first gets into killing people with help from his best friend, Stu Matcher. The killings start without much motive, but later it is revealed that William wanted to get rid of Maureen Prescott, the woman who, according to him, ruined his family.
In one of the movies, Billy mentions that killing somebody without a cause and just for fun might be the scariest thing ever but then continues on to do the same thing with others under the garb of revenge. The movie tries to justify his killing spree as stemming from his family issues, but it is very apparent that he kills mostly because he enjoys it and the fact that he never gets caught.
We know that Billy’s first-ever target that pushed him actually to get into killing people was Maureen, the woman who had an affair with his father and the woman he blamed for destroying his family. Angry with the fact that Maureen flirted with not just her father but any man that came across her, he decides to take revenge on her but goes on a killing spree first to get the scent off him.
His next target was Sydney Prescott, Maureen’s daughter and a victim of his continued revenge. But it is when he threatens her that things actually get interesting as she decides to fight and bring down the killer, eventually getting him caught and ending his killing spree agenda.
Who Did Billy Loomis Get Pregnant?
While the main focus of the Scream films has mostly been Ghostface and his murder tactics, while also focuses on the main leads as they try to figure out a way to protect themselves. One thing the movie did not focus much on was who did Billy, the Ghostface, sleep with or rather got pregnant.
Sydney Prescott put up a great fight against Ghostface and his helper buddy, Stu, eventually managing to kill them both in the final showdown. His death brought a wave of relief and trauma for the former but also brought an end to the character’s story.
Scream 4 had a small reference to the character, but it is Scream Fifth and Sixth that introduced a new character that left the fans shocked. Samantha Carpenter, better known as Sam, was a new addition to the franchise, and her origin left fans speechless and intrigued as it added so much spice to the story.
It was revealed that twenty-five years ago, when Billy was well alive and also dating Sydney Prescott, he had been cheating on her, sleeping with some girl called Christina Carpenter. And it was during one of their fun moments that the latter actually ended up getting pregnant and having Samantha Carpenter.
The first thirteen years of her life, Sam spent not knowing who her biological father was, but upon finding out, she falls into a pit of bad mental health and even worse life decisions and also ends up leaving the town for five years.
Sam’s origin has made the recent Scream movies more interesting and has definitely created more room for her character to explore and grow into. She has taken over the franchise and has been the leader in the recent two Scream movies leading them to be complete hits among fans.
