What happened in the Somebody Somewhere S1?
Sam was seen to be working in Trish’s store in the finale episode joking with clients. Trish is still upset about what occurred with Rick, but she refuses to discuss it. But she does give Sam credit for a job well done.
Sam and Trish have finally reconciled. Joel is also reluctant to speak after what happened, and he is just going through the motions. Trish isn’t the only individual who feels this way. Later, Sam appears and decides they need to find him a new church.
So they set out, stopping at a single business so Joel could get a sense of the area. Joel acknowledges after the sermon that, despite it seeming flawless, he no longer attends church and has turned away from it.
Soon after, Sam comes up at Tricia’s store, and the two start to fight. Sam is left to passively observe before Joel arrives and starts directing traffic. He reads passages from the Bible and advises the two to work through their differences or end the conversation.
Ed departs to visit Mary-Jo at the nursing home in the meantime. Following a secret meeting that appears to be about money, Mary-Jo chooses to let herself go but returns home with a schedule of appointments. She appears committed to beating her alcoholism and, in doing so, makes sure Ed won’t have to pay for her treatment.
Sam eventually performs in the barn for everybody in an effort to motivate Joel before leaving on a road trip. Sam has discovered a ton of comparable people to share her victories and defeats with, so it’s a really happy event.
Sam, however, thinks back on her adventure and starts to cry when she returns home and lies flat on her bed. The episodes come to a close with a happy or sad ending!
