Our Dating Sim, also known as Our Love Simulation, is a South Korean BL Drama series directed by Lim Hyun Hee. It was aired on Rakuten Viki original on March 9, 2023. It has a total of 8 episodes of 15 minutes each.
The drama’s Storyline is about two best friends, Lee Wan and Shin Ki Tae, who had an inseparable connection in high school. Gradually Lee Wan started to have romantic feelings toward Shin Ki Tae. On their last school day, Lee Wan gathers all his courage and confesses his feelings to Shin Ki Tae, who gets stunned by this. Lee Wan runs away without even getting a response for his feelings from Shin Ki Tae. The duo parts away on unhappy terms.
After almost seven years, both face each other to work on a dating simulation game. Shin Ki Tae became a startup game company manager, and Lee Wan decided to follow his passion as an illustrator. Later one day, Lee Wan gets a job interview call from the company to work as an illustrator for their dating-themed game, and the company turns out to be Shin Ki Tae’s game company.
The story follows how these both give a start to their relationship for the second time around while together on a date simulation game project.

Cast and Character
Our Dating Sim’s cast includes Lee Seung Gyu as the main character Shin Ki Tae, and Lee Jong Hyuk as the second main character Lee Wan. For supporting roles, Yu Seong Yong is Producer Ahn, the CEO of Shin Ki Tae’s game company. Sung Ryung as Sunny and Park Si Young as Jamie are the two other Shin Ki Tae’s game company employees. Kim So Young played the character of Lee Yeon, Lee Wan’s sister. The drama’s cast is small, keeping within budget, yet all of the cast gave a profound performance in the drama playing their roles.

1. Easy approachable Storyline.
The drama’s Storyline is very easy to understand and doesn’t make viewers think about what will happen next. The story perfectly blends the main couple’s little Dating, romantic, and work life, not including any major twists and turns or unnecessary fillers in every episode. They are almost giving the drama slice-of-life genre.

2. More Focus on Main Leads only
Keeping in mind the limited time of each episode, the drama focused on the main leads only. We were introduced to side characters very less; there were rarely scenes where we got a glimpse of the side characters. They don’t stick out much other than those funny office moments. Also, we were introduced to Lee Wan’s aunt only verbally and never saw her on-screen throughout the drama.
The whole drama primarily focuses on the main leads only. We will mostly see how the main characters’ feelings develop for each. Especially Lee Wan, who decided to follow his heart and not run away after meeting his high school first love after seven years.

3. Small Production Team
Our Dating Sim is produced by Studio Winsome and aired on Rakuten Viki. Studio Winsome is a rookie company producing BL dramas in Korea since 2021. The first BL drama by Studio Winsome released was My Sweet Dear which was aired on October 21, 2021, with eight episodes of 15 minutes each. It took Studio Winsome almost two years to release their next drama, Our Dating Sim. They come back with a beautiful production keeping in mind their budget.

4. Limited Budget
Studio Winsome is a very small company they are still growing; therefore, shooting Our Dating Sim was limited. But still, director Lim Hyun Hee with the help of his other production team members, managed to finish and air the drama. That’s why we didn’t get many outdoor scenes in the drama, limiting it to mostly office scenes, otherwise, Ki Tae’s home or the high school. Even though the locations used were profound and gave the scenes a more realistic look.
5. Perfect to binge-watch in just one day.
The drama consists of a total of 8 episodes, with each episode of 15 minutes. Having a small number of episodes, the story moves forward clearly without giving many fillers or twists, which makes the drama to binge-watch in one day. As the story forwards, each episode feels better than the previous one. It’s a perfect BL drama that you can finish in two hours and take little breaks even in between.

6. RE: TRY
The name of the game company of Shin Ki Tae is RE: TRY, which gives a sense of Shin Ki Tae and Lee Wan’s relationship. Both of them, keeping their past incident aside, tries to get into a romantic relationship by giving it a second try or, can be said, re-tried their relationship.
7. Fun-filled Office Environment
Most of the office scenes shown in the drama have an element of fun. Producer Ahn/Etho is portrayed as a comic character who adds laughable elements in the office scenes. The office environment is set differently in this drama rather than the same boring work loaded office scene with a tacky CEO or Boss.
Some of you, after seeing Etho, might wish for a boss or CEO like him. This guy just made the office environment full of fun. He often motivates his workers and treats them to dinner, which is cool. He even gave his company’s credit card to go on a trip when Ki Tae won a video game match with Sunny. After our main leads, I’m sure you all will love this guy.

8. Not Forced Romance
Like in most BL K-dramas, fans have noticed that actors are mostly uncomfortable, while romantic scenes make fans a little uncomfortable to watch. But guys, Our Dating Sim is completely different. Not only do the actors seem comfortable in most of the romantic scenes, but they also give a vibe as if they are in a relationship.
9. Off-screen Chemistry of our Main Leads
Both of our Main Leads can be seen close enough to each other in many of the behind the scenes released by Studio Winsome on their YouTube channel. Fans are not only getting crazy over their chemistry on-screen but also loving their chemistry off-screen too. No doubt, the drama is finished airing. It’s the last episode, but fans still wait for it to release every week behind the screen.
In an interview with Sports W, lead actor Lee Jong Hyuk who played Lee Wan, is questioned when he becomes comfortable shooting his character; he replies, “It was the scene when Wan was eating lunch alone at a restaurant, and Gi Tae saw him by chance. Gi Tae joked around so much back then that I became comfortable with each other (Seunggyu). Our chemistry matched each other, so it looked natural on screen.”
