The new anime Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku follows the story of Gabimaru, the strong assassin who’s betrayed by his own clan’s chief and finds himself on death row due to this. Despite everything, he claimed he wanted to die, but no execution methods worked on him. When he lost all hope, a deal was offered to him.
The deal is to join an expedition to an unknown land thought to be Paradise and retrieves the ‘Elixir of Life’ as it is not an easy task. Many expeditions lost their lives in trying to find the elixir. Gabimaru heads towards the island in hopes of reuniting with his wife.
Hell’s Paradise is more of an adventure story than an action movie, if not more so. The series may be more seinen-like than shonen because of the occasionally violent incidents, and as a result, it ends up being much more than the sum of its parts. Along with the terrifying journey, it also has various components of the psychological thriller genre.
As a result, the narrative begins as a straightforward ninja tale but develops into something much more surprising by the time it reaches its climax.
The anime adaptation of this Yuji Kaku manga series, which had 138 chapters when it was completed on January 25, 2021, was initially revealed during Jump Festa 2022 and released its final teaser on February 26, 2023.
Where to Read the Hell’s Paradise Manga Before the Animation Comes Out
Yuji Kaku created Hell’s Paradise, which debuted in Shonen Jump+ in the first quarter of 2018. Thirteen finished tankobon volumes were amassed by the time it ended in 2021, which was almost exactly three years later. Kaku created backstories for all the characters as he developed the series, which made sense given that he had originally intended the show to be a heartbreaking battle royal drama.
Viz Media has distributed all 13 volumes in the West; the final one was issued in March 2022. The forthcoming anime is being produced by MAPPA, a reputable studio that has worked on popular anime like Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen. As a result, there will be a sharp rise in interest in Hell’s Paradise, particularly among those who read the original manga.
Manga Plus and the Viz Media website both offer access to the series for online reading. It is also available for purchase and reading on Kindle and Comixology. But, obtaining the manga volumes is equally simple for individuals who like to read the series in a tangible format. These are sold in well-known places like Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, and even Walmart. Readers can also order Hell’s Paradise on Amazon.
