2 Fast 2 Furious Filming Locations: Where Is The Action Movie Filmed?

Who didn’t fall in love with street car racing after watching the Fast and Furious film franchise? Directed by John Singleton, the film became one of the most awaited sequels of the 2000s after the massive success of its prequel titled Fast And Furious.

Produced by Neal H. Moritz, the film franchise is based on Gary Scott’s characters and stars Paul Walker playing the role of Brian O’Conner, a former LAPD officer. Tyrese Gibson plays the role of Roman Pearce, Brian’s friend from childhood, and Eva Mendes plays the role of Monica Fuentes, a customs agent.

Cole Hauser plays the role of Carter Verone, a drug lord from Argentine, Chris Bridges plays the role of Tej Parker, Brian’s friend, and Thom Barry plays the role of Agent Bilkins, an undercover agent in the lead.

With a minimal budget of $76 M, the sequel of Fast And Furious made an awesome Bollywood box office collection of $236.4M. Michael Brandt and Derek Haas wrote the story for 2 Fast 2 Furious the center plot of the film focuses on Brian O’Conner, a former police officer who relocates to Miami to give his life a second chance.

In the new city, Brian takes an interest in street racing and befriends Suki and Tej, but his hunger for power and competitive streak lands him in trouble with the FBI. Brian had to make a deal with the FBI to work with his partner to take down Cole Hauser, the drug lord. Released on June 6, 2003, the sequel had a run-time of 108 minutes, and the cars in the film make a point of gossip for the viewers.

2 Fast 2 Furious – Premise

The film opens with an arena for street racing, with racers preparing their cars and co-drivers for the ride. Brian, having aided Dominic Toretto, a wanted convict in L.A., the former L.A.P.D. officer escapes to Miami in order to hide.

Brian takes an interest in street racing and starts to make a living from street racing from events organized by Tej Parker, his friend and a mechanic. During one of the races, officers raid the racing event, and Brian ends up getting arrested. To escape time in prison and having his records erased, Brian gets offered a deal by Bilkins, his former boss, and Markham.

The deal made by Brian and the F.B.I. needed Brian to go undercover and secure the arrest of Carter Verone, the Argentinian drug lord. After negotiations, Brian agrees after the F.B.I. permits him to take a partner of his choice along with him. Brian chooses his best friend Roman as his partner to join him on his secret mission.

Roman is under house arrest for vehicle theft and is suspicious of Brian due to his time as an L.A.P.D. officer. Brian and Roman get in a scuffle after the latter blames the former for his arrest. In the end, Roman agrees to partner with Brian for the undercover mission after Brian agrees to get him the same deal he received from the FBI.

Meanwhile, Monica, an undercover customs agent working for Verone. After the pair confiscates a vehicle from an impoundment lot, they get information on Verone’s plan to flee the country in his private jet and smuggle the money with him. This infuriates Brian and Roman, who pass the same information to Markham.

The pair acquire a 1969 Yenko Camaro SYC and a 1970 Dodge Challenger to prevent Markham from undermining Brian and Roman’s authority. Verone tortured Whitworth at a nightclub to provide a window for the gateway of his men. Brain and Roman patch up their differences after Roman confronts his best friend about his attraction toward Monica.

Markam refuses to cancel their mission even though Monica warns Brian and Roman that they will be killed after the drop-off. On the final day of the deal, a police chase ensues across the city after Withworth orders the police to make an early move.

Brian and Roman lead the pair to a warehouse where an event organized by Tej causes chaos. After a chase worth watching, the film ends with Markham erasing the records of both Brian and Roman. The pair decides to stay in Miami and use the money they kept for themselves from Verone’s cash before handing it over to Markham.

2 Fast 2 Furious Filming Locations

The filming of one of the best action-thriller sequels titled 2 Fast 2 Furious started in 2002, with South Florida as the prime location.

1. South Florida, U.S.A.

Located in the southernmost region of the U.S.A., Florida is a beautiful location used by the crew of 2 Fast 2 Furious for the filming of a significant part of the film. Pearl Champagne Lounge in Miami, Florida, served as the filming location for the scene where Brian and Roman are invited to have a meeting with Verone and get to witness Verone’s interrogative techniques.

Coconut Groove in Miami, Florida, served as the filming location for the scene where several street racers were invited to audition to work with the top man. Downtown Art House in Miami, Florida, serves as the location for the scene where Briane’s car gets tasered despite his attempts to escape.

Bill Baggs in Florida served as the filming location for the scene where Briane’s car leaps into a moving boat. Northeast 14th Street & North Miami serves as the filming location for the scene with the race’s starting point.

Some other locations used for filming the film in Florida include Weston, Homestead, Key West, Seven Miles Bridge, West Palm, Boca Raton, Cape Canaveral, and Virginia Key. Coral Beach was used to film the scene with Hauser’s character’s mansion.

2. California, U.S.A.

Located along the coast of the Pacific with an approximated population of 39.2 M and a beautiful landscape, California was used by the production crew of 2 Fast 2 Furious to film some parts of the brilliant action-thriller film.
