Shangri-La Frontier is a story of a teenager, Hidzutome Rakurou who spends his time playing video games. However, in this universe video game technology has come a long way. So much so that games that use a screen are considered retro. Virtual Reality has become the new normal. However, with that, there comes a whole new set of challenges.
There is a cluster of half-baked games in circulation. More than half-decent games. They are riddles with bugs and glitches rendering them almost unplayable. But there are those who like to collect these so-called “Trash Games”. Rakurou is a self-proclaimed Trash Game Hunter. He spends his time finding Trash Games and plays them almost exclusively.
After finishing his latest conquest he heads back to the same store to buy his next game. He chats with the cashier about how horrible the game was. By this time he is pretty friendly with the cashier as he has become one of her regular customers. However this time she convinces him to try a non-trash game. She convinces him to play one of the popular games, The Shangri-La Frontier.
He takes the game home and starts playing it. He is amazed at the number of personalization options he has. He is used to being stuck with sub-par equipment so this is a refreshing change of pace. However, he decides to sell all of his beginner equipment to buy a better weapon. He chooses a duel sword-wielding wanderer as his Avatar. To hide his face he bought an overhead bird mask.
He finds himself in the middle of a Jungle. His map tells him that there is a village nearby but Sunraku, that’s his in-game alias by the way. Sunraku decides to do some exploring instead. Very quickly he levels up and finds several weapons. Since he is used to tough and awkward controls he can cruise through low-level enemies quickly. However, the first boss battle is giving him some trouble.
Before long he defeats the boss but is slowly losing HP. At the last second, he was able to find a respawn point. He cruises through the town and buys some light armor and better weapons. He learns that the monsters that come out at night as more fearsome than the ones in the morning. Sunraku decides to test his steel against these new monsters. However, he may have bitten off more than he can chew
Shangri-La Frontier Chapter 124 Recap – The Story So Far
In Chapter 124 we see the American Team having a meeting. Silvi is the last one to join the table and immediately starts ordering food. The rest of them asks her how she can eat this much. She explains how she has to pack calories for the training. Then we see Sunraku and his team. They have come to his room as he overslept. He asks for some food but instead is ridiculed.
Kei tells them how the registration window is soon closing and therefore they must figure out their aliases and register for the event. He informs that himself and Megu have already registered. Only Sunraku and Amane are left. Sunraku is wearing a gas mask as he does not want his face to be exposed. While Amane wants to hide her name as it might impact her career.
They register themselves as No Face and No Name respectively. Furthermore, Amane informs Sunraku that she has ordered some costumes for the two of them. Since wearing just a Gas Mask will make him stand out. And if it’s part of a costume no one would question his intentions. The costumes are already on their way. She makes it clear that Sunraku has no choice in the matter.
Amane is insistent on keeping the costumes a secret. She wants it to be a surprise. But another obstacle has presented itself. After the registration Kei gets a call from his manager. They talk for a bit and seem to be having a heated conversation. After the call, Kei informs them that he won’t be able to participate in tomorrow’s match. This is surely a big problem.
Shangri-La Frontier Chapter 125 Spoilers – What To Expect From The Next Chapter?
The fate of The Exhibition Match is unknown as Kei had to withdraw at the last second. The team will protest of course. Kei and his Avatar K are a crucial part of their team. The reason his manager asked him to withdraw is also unclear. We will know more in the next chapter. They might be able to work something since he has already registered. Backing out now will look bad.
Furthermore, The American Team. They joined the match specifically since Kei is in the match, They were discussing how K was their opponent and they must defeat him. If Kei is no longer competing the American Team might just be able to with The Exhibition Match. There are a lot of questions but not enough answers.
