The Rookie is an American police crime drama television series. Alexi Hawley creates the series for ABC. The series stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin Jr., Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Mekia Cox, Shawn Ashmore, Jenna Dewan, and Tru Valentino.
The series revolves around John Nolan who is a man in his forties who becomes the oldest rookie in Los Angeles Police Department, amazed, right? The show is based on real-life Los Angeles Police Department officer William Norcross who came to Los Angeles in 2015 and joined the police department in his mid-forties.
The show Rookie premiered on 16 October 2018, and the first season ended on 16 April 2019. The second season premiered on 29 September 2019 and ended on 10 May 2020. The third season commenced on 3 January 2021 and concluded on 16 May 2021. Then the series got renewed for the fourth season which premiered on 26 September 2021.
The show got renewed for the fifth season which premiered on 25 September 2022. The filming is in New York City, Los Angeles, Oxnard, and Burbank. The series also made headlines with harassment allegations and on-set misconduct. Williamson also reported that she was sexually harassed by guest star Demetrius Grosse who plays the role of Kevin Wolfe in a recurring role in the show.

Who Is Jackson In The Rookie?
Jackson West was the main character in the series The Rookie. He was a police officer and was assigned to the Mid-Wilshire Division. During seasons 1-2, his training officer was Angela Lopez. His training officer changed to Doug Stanton during season 3. In the very first pilot episode, Jackson considers himself the most prepared rookie officer in history. He seems to have memorized most of the penal codes and procedures. Percy West, his father, is also the head of internal affairs in the LAPD.
As the show goes on we find out that Jackson West is estranged from his mother as she is upset now about the act that Jackson chose the job over family. In the episode titled Manhunt, a prisoner told Jackson West about tampering with the evidence his father did a few years back which that prisoner inside the jail. On confronting this, in the episode titled Homefront, his father said he had to do what was required.
At the start of the season, 2 Jackson West receives his score on the mid-term exam and is not quite happy with the score. In an episode titled The Night General West’s landlord is arrested due to drug charges and West now has to find a new place to settle in. In season 3 Lopez is promoted to detective and this means that Jackson would be requiring a new officer for his training.

What Episode did Jackson Die in The Rookie?
Is Jackson dead? Let’s find out. Jackson was the first LGBTQ character to have appeared in the Rookie. In season 4 in an episode titled Life and Death, it was revealed that Jackson had been shot in his back and killed by one of Sandra de la Cruz’s men. At the start of season 4, he got killed. His gravestone was seen at the end of the episode Life and Death and was given an LAPD badge that read ‘Beloved son, faithful friend, and Fierce Protector.’ His family’s reaction to his death is unknown to date and his family members were not seen after season 3.
He was only 26 years old when he got killed as was revealed in an episode titled Safety. The audience find the episode so strange and didn’t like Jackson killed off from the show. Jackson West was an integral part of the show. The reason behind Jackson’s death was not because of any writer or any person’s personal ideas. The writer said, “What I can say is that Titus [Makin Jr.] was not coming back to the show, so we needed to do the best that we could to honor the character who’s been so primally a part of the show.”
