Hong-Bo Hao’s Taiwanese drama The Way You Shine is a romance-themed series that has been airing since June 11th, 2023. Puff Kuo (20 Years Promise) and Fandy Fan (Copycat Killer) make up the main cast members of the series.
The storyline centers on Zhou Xin Xing and Xia Tian Yu, a pair that meet by coincidence while at the airport. After having a dreamy wedding, Xin Xing was off to her honeymoon resort, but what she didn’t know was that her father was deep in debt. Throughout the wedding and during the Honeymoon, Xin Xing’s dad was harassed for returning the debt by loan sharks. He eventually ends up passing away while at the beach.
The huge debt falls on Xin Xing and her mom afterward, causing chaos and ruin in her personal and professional lives. As for Xia Tian Yu, he has rich parents who sent him off to another country for a diploma, but he has no interest in pursuing that and returns to Taiwan.
The duo eventually ends up working together at the same cafe “Les Années Lentes” where they form a strong bond. However, Xia Tian Yu and Xin Xing’s relationship isn’t going to be an easy one, as they both have admirers and other problems to deal with.
The Way You Shine: About The Show
Zhou Xin Xing believed she was going to have the most perfect life after marrying a dermatologist. Her dad’s beloved business was deep in bankruptcy and he had no choice but to take a loan from lowly loan sharks. These people start cornering him when he fails to return the money and even show up at the wedding of Zhou Xin Xing.
Seeing no way out of this trouble, Zhou Xin Xing’s father decides to go to the beach and we later see that he has passed away after getting caught up in the waves. Xin Xing is devastated, but what makes the situation worse is the fact that she was responsible for paying the debt her father had collected.
The loan sharks start attacking Zhou Xin Xing’s husband and In-laws too, which makes them try to cut all ties with her family. The duo separates and a heartbroken Xin Xing tries to pay back by opting for a job as a delivery person.
Xia Tian Yu is going through troubles of his own, as he escapes from his college in a foreign country and returns to Taiwan. His mother seems to be completely disappointed as she had spent a lot of money to make Xia Tian Yu’s future better.
Xin Xing and Xia Tian Yu meet at the airport when Xin Xing was in a rush to see her father at the hospital. After a series of events, Xin Xing and Tian Yu start working together and try to make their lives better while also doing things they love. The twist is that both Xin Xing and Tian Yu have secret admirers that are ready to make their moves any second.
