The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 Story
The Mandalorian Season 3 has connections to its prequels and sequels. The first episode has been crowned with the title ‘the Apostate.’ The Mandalorian can remove his helmet only when he is alone, especially when none is there to look at him. Thus, food consumption can be done only in loneliness.
But, Din Djarin, the ‘Mando,’ took off his helmet before Grogu and got outcasted by his people; thus, the name ‘Apostate.’ Grogu, on the other hand, is also an apostate Jedi. Din Djarin could have left the clan. But, he had taken an oath to preserve the Mandalorian tradition.
You will find a child who is ready to join the clan in this episode. He must be from the Vizsla clan. His oath-taking ceremony resembles Christian Baptism. However, the oath-taking ceremony does not get completed because a space gator attacks them.
The battle of the Mandalorians against the space gator shows their brotherhood. They do not leave anyone alone. But, the attack also means that the Mandalorians are not safe anywhere in the galaxy.
Din Djarin finds an armor crystal in the Mandalore that has something written on it. After thorough research, it turns out to be a paragraph from the book of Exodus. The text is about how Israelis got free from Egyptian rule due to Locust. Mandalore resembles the situation of those Israelis.
Din Djarin goes to Nevarro, but he knows he cannot live there forever. The ship teaches Grogu to navigate, and Din Djarin creates the armor for him. It indicates that Din considers Grogu a Mandalorian and wants to train him to be one.
Our Review
Din Djarin may spend the third season trying to get into the clan. The beginning of the first episode seems to be a flashback where the Mandalorians are fighting. This season is not much exciting though it has a monster, a deserted planet, the little boy, and powerful armor.
Nevarro was shown in the first two seasons too. This place felt crowded, trashy, and full of villains and thieves. However, in the third season, it appears to be a tourist attraction. The coolest moment in the episode was when Grogu looked at the hyperspace whales, called ‘Pergil,’ through his glass dome.
The Gorion Shard, the Pirate King, looks like the creature from the Pirates Of The Caribbean. It looks like the Mandalorians trust the Darksaber a lot, which is not more than a superstition. We know that Din Djarin went to Nevarro and brought the statue of the bounty droid in-11 for his help. Some parts were original, and some were new.
The twist occurs when the bounty droid’s memory gets wiped, and he attacks Grogu instead of protecting him. Grogu is no less than a bad baby, and it is funny and cute. The effects and the Mandalorian stuff were awesome. The armorer had a pleasant voice and better acting.
The little boy shown during the oath-taking procedure performed well despite having a small role. Bo-Katan Kryze was already sitting on her throne all day long, doing nothing and only waiting for the Mandalorian. It does not make sense. Other such vague things are the crocodile, resurrecting IG11, and the Babu Friks.
Viewers with no interest in character development and narration may enjoy this episode. The first episode of the third season of the Mandalorian is full of adventure, goofy aliens, pirates, and cuteness. We would not get too critical with this one because it is only the first episode, not the last one.

How To Watch The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1
The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 1 is available on Disney+. So, get ready to pay $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year for this platform. You can get the Disney+ bundle on Hulu if you have already subscribed for the latter. It requires only $19.99 per month.
Our Verdict
The story of the first episode does not seem to be interesting. It is available on Disney+ and Hulu (with the Disney+ bundle). The tiny Babu Friks were cute but not required. You will find several scenes that have no underlying reason. It was mostly fan fiction, and Grogu had no responsibility. The word ‘Apostate’ can refer to the Mando and Grogu because the latter is an apostate Jedi.
Our Rating: ⭐ (2.8/5).
