Despite her best attempts, Sister Monica Joan could not converse with anyone due to their hectic schedules. Soon enough, she was sitting alone in the gardens, trying vainly to talk to everyone she could find. That is until a small puppy came bounding up to her.
Later, Sister Monica Joan discovered the same dog standing for her in front of Nonnatus House and informed it: “Dogs are not permitted inside. She resisted, though, and allowed the dog inside, saying to the pup, “You were being sent at a time of sorrow, and we must take what we are sent,” when he did not budge.

Recap of episode 6 of Call the Midwife
Sister Monica Joan could avoid the sin of dishonesty to her other nuns and midwives by cunningly deciding to call the dog Nothing – continually telling them that “There is nothing here” whenever they enquired about the weird noises coming from her bedroom.
Eventually, Sister Monica Joan was forced to say goodbye to her new friend after Nurse Crane and Julienne. But please, she pleaded, “let him stay in my bedroom with me.” “You were unaware that he had been there all week.”
Apologies, but this is a clinical home, Sister Julienne retorted. “Pets are simply not permitted here.” Sister Monica Joan lamented, “He is such a joy to hang out with him. “His owners left him behind.” It turns out that Nothing’s parents had not abandoned him; rather, they had been frantically looking for him but could not approach him because he had been confined inside Nonnatus House.
When Julienne learned why another nun had felt compelled to sneak a puppy into her chamber, she did lose her hard exterior. She said, “I must see that you’re not so alone in the future. “I’ve been careless. I should have known.”
Monica Joan said stiltedly, “You have indeed been busy. Sister Julienne firmly said, “I should never be too busy for you.” On the other hand, Trixie decided to honor the relationships she has developed with her coworkers in honor of her forthcoming wedding.
She informed them, “I don’t have bridesmaids.” I also realized that I only want close friends to be my bridesmaids. Do you want to be mine? Heather’s dad made a promise to treat their child with the affection she so urgently needed. They learned about the profound effect their humorous remarks were making on their daughter, so they decided to finally give her the parental attention she had never had before.
They finally admitted that their child had been lonely and that a major part of that was due to them. We learned that loneliness could affect toddlers, teenagers, younger adults, and the over a million older persons who experience it in the UK. And that isolation can manifest itself in various ways, including feeling entirely alone, cut off from your friends, or like the “weird one out” in your family.
