Kim Dae Jin and Kim Jung Wook are the directors. Uhm Jung Hwa, Kim Byung Chul, Myung Se Bin, and Min Woo Hyuk play the main characters.

On Saturday, it was on top, followed by The Real Deal Has Come, Jason Attorney, and Pandora: Beneath the Paradise. On Sunday, Doctor Cha broke the viewership record with the highest rating for a Sunday tv series in Korea. The popularity is because of the storyline of how humorously a housewife’s daily life is as she juggles her responsibilities to her family and her aspirations.
Doctor Cha Episode 5: Story
The main protagonist is Cha Jung Sook. She is married to Seo In Ho. He is a Chief surgeon at the medical university hospital. She lives in a mansion with her mother-in-law, husband, son, and daughter. For the past twenty years, she has been a full-time housewife and always dedicated to her family. Her son is also a medical resident, and her daughter is a high school student.
One day, Cha Jung Sook had a near-death experience due to acute hepatitis and a liver transplant. During her sickness, she finds out the real faces of everyone and how selfish her husband and mother in law. The surgeon performing Jung Sook’s liver operation is Dr. Roy Kim. He is a handsome and kind-hearted person.
Jung Sook shared that she was once a licensed doctor but hasn’t practiced in ages. She wanted to be a surgeon but its too late. Dr. Roy always encouraged and supported her. After recovering, she decides to fulfill her dreams of becoming a surgeon and joins as a first-year resident in her husband’s department.
Doctor Cha Episode 5: Recap
Cha Jung Sook is adjusting herself to young residents and patients at the hospital. At night, all co-workers and new joiners in their department are partying. Everyone is praising Dr. In Ho, and Jung Sook breaks it by laughing as she knows his real nature. The senior Dr. Yoon Tae Shik asks about Jung Sook’s husband’s job, to which she responds as he is dead. This statement was shockingly unexpected for In Ho and her son Seo Jeong Min.
Dr. Roy gives a bike ride to Jung Sook to home. She gets emotional as it is the first time she feels alive from her regular rigid routine life. Jung Sook and Roy have a deep talk and become friends. In the meantime, In Ho feels envious of his wife’s bond with a young, attractive man like Dr. Roy.
Jung Sook gets into trouble with some medical procedures and gets scolded. She contacts her son repeatedly for help, and he becomes furious. Later, he sends video links to her mother to learn the procedure. Back at home, her daughter feels neglected. She writes a letter to her daughter. She expressed she has always looked after her family selflessly, and now she wants to think about herself. She wants her daughter to be supportive of her decision.
One day she finds a receipt for an expensive bracelet in her husband’s pocket, and he lies about it. Next day in the hospital, while assisting a doctor in saving a patient. She notices the smile passed between In Ho and Dr. Sung Hee. Unfortunately, she also sees the bracelet in Dr. Sung Hee’s hand.
