Here Are Some of Our Favorite Quotes From The K-drama ‘My Liberation Notes’
Quoting the monologues of the main characters, ‘My Liberation Notes’ give us some of the best advice and words to express ourselves when it’s hard to do so.
#1. “Every relationship feels like work.”
Mi Jeong is one of the most relatable characters in the history of k-dramas. On her way back home through the regular commute, we see her thinking to herself. Just like us, she has no idea where things go wrong. Why does she feel so exhausted? From the moment she’s up, it feels like such a burden to her.

#2. “I don’t know where I’m trapped, but I feel trapped. There’s nothing that relaxes me in my life. I feel cramped and stifled. I want to break free.”
Just another quote by Mi Jeong that hits right in the heart. Feeling trapped, she has also created an imaginary person whom she will meet someday in life. Someone in whose arms she can let herself go and finally relax.
#3. “Five Minutes a day, if you have five minutes of peace, it’s bearable. That’s how I survive”.
Throughout the show, we see Mi Jung going through an emotional rollercoaster. She changes a lot. On a meal out with Mr. Goo, she tells him about the importance of five minutes of happiness. How holding the door for a random kid at the convenience store and the kid saying ‘thank you’ to her can make her day. Or how just the thought of waking up on a Saturday morning can make her happy for 10 seconds. Adding up the seconds, even if they add up to just five minutes of happiness a day, they are enough.
#4. “It feels like people are all scarecrows. They don’t really know what they are doing. They’re just acting as if they do. Why is everything so boring?”
Mi Jung has been honest with Mr. Goo throughout her journey. She has felt calm enough to let thoughts come out in front of him. On their way back to the village, she tells him how uneasy and nervous she feels almost all the time. It feels to her that people are just acting around her. This thought takes us back to the times we felt uneasy and cramped up in the world. The time when nothing makes sense to us at all.
#5. “Life is a series of embarrassment.”
Mi Jeong’s brother Chang Hee has problems of his own. Throughout the show, he has spoken some of the wisest words as well. Calling life a series of embarrassments, he points out how we are born naked. And that we shouldn’t be afraid before taking chances as life is all about moving and taking risks.
